Pete Clarke, CCL changed my life.
We met a 1-2 years after I began to run marathons around 2013. The event was networking with financial people - bankers, asset based lenders, etc.. Pete is a senior banker - very experienced. He continues to work as he loves to impact businesses vs. "retiring."
Pete asked what I was doing health wise, workouts, etc.. Of course my mind shifted to marathons. He asked more questions.
Little did I know with whom I was speaking!
Pete grew up in Brooklyn (his accent was obvious). When in elementary school came in 1st place in a race. Jackie Robinson, yes THE famous "Brooklyn Dodger," draped a medal around Pete's neck!
Pete later ran track at Kansas. Yes, Kansas!
Pete runs now in the Senior Track Masters events nationwide. He holds many USA/ World (yes, USA/World) records in the 400, 200 and 100. When Pete was 62, for example, he ran a 62 second 400! Ponder that!
Pete is very unassuming. Very down to earth. Very genuine.
HOWEVER, he did not always run track once entering the business world.
How did Pete change my life?
>At age 40, Pete had a medical condition that needed to be addressed. Rather than taking additional prescriptions he began to run again and changed his diet. He focused on the underlying cause. His condition cleared.
>Pete's goal was to take NO RXs!
>Pete takes no prescriptions as a "senior."
>His talk provided me the baseline to do the same, i.e., no RXs.
YouTube Video: This is a short 4 minute video of Pete. Hear his voice. Maybe his words will change your life!
PS Colleagues, rather than take a Rx, which deals with the symptoms, focus on getting the underlying cause. THAT is transformational. Pete's story drove me to do the same. The results of impacting the underlying cause changed my life forever.

Celebrating the Legacy of Larry Bird: From Natural Talent to Three Championships and Countless Accolades!
I remember watching the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers battle it out on the court. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were the stars of the show, but Larry Bird wasn't a natural talent. He put in the extra hours and that's why he won three championships, MVP awards, and was highly respected. What are your thoughts on the power of hard work?

🏁🥢 Fresh from a nail-biting finish on Season 35 of The Amazing Race last night, Idaho native Joel Strasser CPCU, ChFC, MS, and I teamed up for a unique Guinness World Record attempt. Read all about it in my latest blog post: "Speedy Chopsticks: An Idaho Collaboration"!
Last night, Joel, known for his incredible beard worthy of records, and his partner narrowly escaped elimination, clinching 7th place out of 8 teams. This close call, while they believed they were last, exemplifies the very essence of a growth mindset – the belief that abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work.
In the spirit of that mindset, we set out to combine Joel's record-breaking beard prowess with my passion for speed and efficiency. The result? A captivating record-breaking attempt with chopsticks that goes beyond just skill.

Use What You Have
Everyone has a starting point. Start where you are. Use what you have. Nobody has nothing. Do what you can with what you have. We all have unique strengths. What talents, gifts and skills do you have?
Elephants use their weight. Giraffes use their height. Lions use their power. Eagles use their wings. Cheetahs use their speed. Buffaloes ride on their numbers. Sharks swim their way to dominance.
Use what you have been given. What you don’t use, you lose. When you use what you’ve been given, you are given more. If you’ve lost so much, use what you have left. Use what you have learned.
Never feel guilty of starting all over again. The beginning is always today. From small beginnings come great things. Each step you take, takes you to a new horizon. Take a new first step today.
You are gifted. Open your package. Your gift sets you apart. Your gift will make room for you. Your gift never shines until you put it to work. If you wait until you feel ready, it’ll never be done.
