I joined the Founding Cohort at 8STR8 to keep myself accountable to my fitness goals and training as a cyclist while also ramping in my new VP role.
It's paid off big time!
This last weekend was "relaxed" with "only" 6 hours of riding for 120 miles across Saturday and Sunday, but I got two second places in the local race ride sprints and won the final one on Saturday.
Sunday felt "easy" as I tapped out the miles to the lake and back.
This weekend went down great because I've continued to maintain habits that I built during the founding cohort, coming up on 3 months.
- Healthy eating and commitment to my macros
- Walking and stretching as a want, and not just a need
- Mindfulness about my performance across areas of life
- Kept off the 15 pounds I lost (and losing more)
- Maintained my improved body composition (and pushing further)
- Better supplementation
- Better sleep
The coolest part of 8STR8 was finding ways to optimize ourselves and sticking to them as best we could. We all cheered each other on and helped encourage each other where we fell off.
You'll be encouraged by founders Kyle Willis and J. Pollard, but more than anything the mutual accountability and expectation that you share your success, approach to success, or even complete failure on a daily basis in achieving your goals is driven by the community members themselves, including me!
In this way, we build a true community around the approach to and achievement of our goals.
Ultimately, it's led to a major change in my consistency and approach to not just my training, but overall LIVING!
8STR8 is an amazing challenge and you should sign up if you want similar results on your own goals and relative scale.
We're a great community of professionals, athletes and fitness enthusiasts and I look forward to seeing you!
Cohort 4 Starts Tomorrow! Sign up link in the comments!

🏋️♀️ Thrilled to announce a significant milestone in my fitness journey – I competed in my first bikini bodybuilding competition and proudly secured 3rd place in my open class! 🏆 This experience has been an incredible teacher, imparting invaluable lessons in focus, consistency, and delayed gratification. 💪
The path to the competition demanded unwavering commitment and taught me the art of maintaining focus amidst challenges. It's not just about the physical aspect; it's a mental game that requires resilience and determination.
Consistency became my steadfast companion throughout this journey. Day in and day out, showing up and putting in the work, even on the toughest days, proved to be the key to progress. The discipline cultivated through consistency spilled over into various aspects of my life, fostering personal and professional growth. 📈
Perhaps one of the most profound lessons was in the realm of delayed gratification. Transformations don't happen overnight, and success is a culmination of persistent effort over time. Learning to embrace the process, trusting it, and staying patient were pivotal elements in achieving my goals.
Beyond the physical gains, I discovered the art of putting emotions, feelings, and thoughts aside when necessary. This mental resilience not only contributed to my success on the stage but also became a valuable life skill.
As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons learned, the growth experienced, and the amazing support from friends and family. Here's to the countless hours of hard work and dedication, and to the exciting victories that lie ahead! 🚀

Why do I engage in this endeavor?
There are several reasons, with the most significant one being personal. However, there's also a part of it dedicated to others, particularly the individuals I coach.
I immerse myself in this journey, constantly challenging myself to understand both the physical and emotional aspects that my clients might experience. This, to me, holds great importance.
As a coach, I lead not by always being at the forefront but by being in the midst of the challenges, demonstrating to both myself and others that it's achievable.
Today, I joined a session with some clients for a couple of reasons:
1. When the going gets tough, my presence can uplift them, motivating them to put in that extra effort – something we all tend to do when working together.
2. They serve as a reminder that I, too, can overcome challenges.
I consistently strive to provide my best while actively seeking experiences that can benefit Team DG. I don't expect them to emulate my path, but I believe that what I do offers them insights into the realm of possibilities, reminding us that our only limitations are our own beliefs, whether physical or mental.

I’m a professional Coach, I’m a Professional Athlete, and I’m a confident woman, proud and happy to say that.
I’ve been a 𝐏𝐑𝐎 𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐂𝐇 from almost 7 years, I’ve worked with hundreds of different customers and trained busy workers and athletes.
For my discipline and care for details, I earned the nickname “The Diamond”.
Fitness is basically my life, I live like a professional athlete and I’ll teach you the optimal way to sustain a healthy lifestyle with balance.
I love what I do and you will feel it.
I’m also a 𝐏𝐑𝐎 𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄, I started competing in 2017, first competition, first victory and earned my Pro card. I enjoyed so much that I couldn’t stop, it’s been a succession of competitions and victories, proud to say multiple times British Champion.
Last but not least, I’m a 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍!! Train like an athlete, spending most of my time in the gym, lifting weight and teaching people how to reshape their body, doesn’t mean that I cannot be a woman.
It’s not because you wear a sexy dress, high heel and make up, it’s something that you feel, it’s something you have inside, it’s something you can achieve and grow; you have to feel confident in your body and mind, you can put on a pair of jeans and sneakers and feel bloody attractive and confident .
All of this because, 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐁𝐄 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓, and you can become the person that you want if you really want it.
And if you need an extra push….I’m here, remember you can become a 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐃 too!!

"The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same."
~Colin R. Davis
Doing hard things.
Embracing challenge.
Trying something new.
That was my perspective before the pandemic.
--- Start running again
--- Aim = sub 6 minute mile
--- Run a 10K later in the year
So each week I got on the treadmill at the gym.
Started my "training"
Then we all know what happened...
--- Gyms shut down
--- Garage gym was built out
--- Purchased a peloton (rode daily)
I still worked out daily.
I still maintained a routine.
Yet I wasn't challenged.
Lost sight of a new adventure.
The bike got old (1400 rides later)
But my good friend Shelly was bold.
--- Put herself out there
--- Booked her 15k in Atlanta
--- A few months out and locally
Last time I saw her she was in a walking boot.
A freakin' boot....
She wasn't even running.
So here's to Shelly...
--- I Registered yesterday
--- Started training this morning
--- Grabbed my headphones and shoes
--- Mapped out my first 4 mile run for today
--- In the dark, and in the rain, I got after it today

🏊♀️ Lessons from Great People : Alyssa Gialamas 🏅
As the host of a #wholelifesuccess podcast, I have already had the privilege of interviewing, and learning from, almost 200 individuals from all walks of life. One of the most inspiring interviews I've had was with USA Paralympian swimmer Alyssa Gialamas. Her journey from competitive swimming to founding AMG Fitness is a testament to resilience, determination, and relationships.
Alyssa shared her keys to success:
1️⃣ Embrace Competition and Overcome Challenges: Alyssa's statement "I've always had this power in me to be the best I can be," encapsulates her mindset of facing challenges head-on and refusing to let physical limitations define her capabilities. She embodies the spirit of resilience, pushing past obstacles to achieve her goals.
2️⃣ Adapt and Overcome: With her mantra of "adapt and overcome," Alyssa demonstrates the importance of finding innovative solutions to overcome obstacles. She refuses to let setbacks hold her back, instead using them as opportunities for growth and learning.
3️⃣ Set Goals and Take Daily Action: Alyssa's commitment to setting and achieving goals is evident in her approach to swimming and fitness. By breaking down her goals into manageable steps and taking consistent daily action, she exemplifies the power of determination and perseverance.
4️⃣ Inclusion: Through her platform, AMG Fitness, Alyssa emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in fitness. Her focus on "Fitness should be for everyone," reflects her dedication to creating a space where people of all abilities feel welcome and empowered to pursue their fitness goals.
5️⃣ Start from the Centre Out: Alyssa's emphasis on starting from the center out highlights the importance of building a strong foundation for success. By prioritizing stability and balance, both physically and mentally, she sets herself up for long-term growth and achievement.
Alyssa's journey teaches us all invaluable lessons in perseverance, adaptability, and the power of adaptability.
Thanks for the inspiration Alyssa!

🌟 Embracing Strength and Resilience: My Journey with the Gym & First Bodybuilding Show 🌟
Throughout my transformative journey in contest preparation, the gym became more than just a place to exercise. It became my sanctuary of growth and self-discovery. The challenges I faced during this process taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance, determination, and resilience.
In pushing my physical limits, I uncovered hidden reservoirs of inner strength I never knew existed. Each rep, each set, became a testament to the power of dedication and hard work. Through the highs and lows of the journey, I learned to embrace adversity as an opportunity for growth, knowing that true strength lies in overcoming obstacles.
But perhaps the most profound revelation came from the realization that the skills honed in the gym transcend far beyond its walls. The discipline, focus, and mental fortitude cultivated during my contest prep are invaluable assets applicable to any endeavor, whether personal or professional.
This journey reaffirmed my belief that with unwavering commitment and relentless effort, anything is achievable. The culmination of hard work is not just a physical transformation but a profound sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.
I am immensely grateful for the incredible support network that stood by me every step of the way. Their encouragement and belief in my abilities fueled my determination to never give up, even when faced with the toughest challenges.
As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded of the power of resilience and the importance of gratitude. I am excited to carry forward the lessons learned from the gym into every aspect of my life, knowing that I am capable of achieving greatness with perseverance and gratitude by my side.

Celebration Time!!! Peta and Sal here with Fitness After 50 FAQ’s and today's question is “I’m disappointed in myself, my results and just can’t seem to move forward with my health and fitness goals, can you help me? This is a big question, so we’ve decided that today’s topic is celebrating yourself and your daily achievements. This will help you foster self-love, boost self-esteem, maintain a positive outlook on life, and stop focusing on the “disappointments”.
Accomplishing goals, even small ones triggers the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine in your brain. Dopamine is often referred to as the "feel-good" neurotransmitter because it's associated with pleasure and reward. This can lead to a boost in mood and a sense of satisfaction. So the more we celebrate, the more we feel better.
Celebrating small achievements reinforces the idea that your efforts are paying off. This can enhance your motivation and drive to continue working towards your goals. The increased motivation can lead to increased physical and mental energy levels.
Recognising and celebrating your achievements, even small ones, contributes to an improved sense of self-esteem and self-worth. This positive self-perception can lead to improved physiological responses such as lowered heart rate and reduced muscle tension.
Create a Celebration Ritual: Develop a personal ritual for celebrating daily achievements. It could be lighting a candle, taking a walk, or simply giving yourself a pat on the back. Grab some ideas from some of our sports people – dancing, jumping and reinforcing how fabulous they are.
Take a moment at the end of each day to reflect on what you've accomplished. Maintain a gratitude or achievement journal. Write down what you achieved each day, no matter how trivial it may seem. Or use Sal’s idea and pop them on a post it note and put them in a vase. Set up a reward system for yourself. Share your achievements with a friend or family member. Sometimes, celebrating with others can make your achievements feel even more special.
Remember, celebrating yourself doesn't have to be extravagant or time-consuming. The effects can vary from person to person, and not everyone will experience these changes in the same way. However, taking the time to acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, can contribute to a more positive mindset and improved physiological responses.
What can you celebrate today?
