This morning, national Public Radio aired a story asking listeners to share their favorite line from the Declaration of Independence. I completely concur with one listener who said the last line spoke to them. It reads: "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." I love this line because it is a promise to one another that as Americans we are committing ourselves to this great adventure called democracy. We are all-in placing our collective futures on the line for one another. It is a reminder that despite our differences, we as Americans stand with and for one another. We won't see that in the headlines today or in our social media feeds. Instead we will hear from our "leaders" more about what sets us apart than what unites us as citizens. We are just a few years short of our 250th birthday as a nation. Take today to remember what it means to be an American, and what our predecessors and founding fathers (and mothers) sacrificed to make our nation the shining beacon on the hill. On this Independence Day, let us remember the immense sacrifices made by those who gave their lives in the American Revolutionary War. Their courage and determination laid the foundation for the freedoms we cherish today. Our founders envisioned a nation built on liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness, and they worked tirelessly to make that dream a reality. Throughout history, these ideals have been preserved through great sacrifice. The American Civil War, with its immense cost, reaffirmed our commitment to unity and equality. Yet today, we must acknowledge that we have lost our way. Our basic morality seems to be eroding, and we have lost sight of what is truly important. Virtue has been corrupted, and there appears to be a subversive force weakening our nation from within. If we are not careful, we risk losing everything that has been fought for. But amid these challenges, there is hope. America remains a shining beacon because of what we can be. We have the power to rediscover our values, to uphold the principles that make us strong, and to strive towards a future that honors the sacrifices of the past. Let us come together, united in purpose, to ensure that the light of freedom continues to shine brightly for generations to come. Happy Independence Day, and may God bless America.

I’d also like to to thank all of the brave people who gave their lives to obtain and keep our independence for the last 248 years. Original Declaration (link below to read all of it): WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation. We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—-That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. 248 years ago the United States reinstated a core principle and a central pillar of our western civilization. The Declaration that “All Men Are Created Equal” – made July 4th, 1776 one of most celebrated days in our recent history. This is when the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence announcing the colonies’ separation from Great Britain. By marking their victory, the United States hailed the highest human virtues of respect, equality and inclusion, while waving the flag of liberties and chanting the songs of freedom. They showed to the humanity the importance of what is divine in the life of humans – a country called home, built on solid principles, on open minds and generous debate of ideas. The American Dream was watered with hard work and a spirit of vivid competition. Barely anyone has better featured that than President Ronald Reagan who said “We are a nation of freedom, living under God, believing all citizens must have the opportunity to grow, create wealth, and build a better life for those who follow. If we live up to those moral values, we can keep the American dream alive for our children and our grandchildren, and America will remain mankind’s best hope.” The obsession for Freedom, the principles of Dignity and Respect, the core value of Hard Work and the invincible desire to win any obstacle that blurs these pillars – has made United States a model to follow and a friend to all. 🇺🇸 Celebrating Independence Day 🇺🇸 As we celebrate the birth of our nation, let’s reflect on the profound words of Ronald Reagan from his 1981 Commencement Address at the University of Notre Dame: “This Nation was born when a band of men, the Founding Fathers, a group so unique we’ve never seen their like since, rose to such selfless heights. Lawyers, tradesmen, merchants, farmers – fifty-six men achieved security and standing in life but valued freedom more. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. Sixteen of them gave their lives. Most gave their fortunes. All preserved their sacred honor.” “They gave us more than a nation. They brought to all mankind for the first time the concept that man was born free, that each of us has inalienable rights, ours by the grace of God, and that government was created by us for our convenience, having only the powers that we choose to give it.” “This experiment in man’s relation to man is a few years into its third century. Saying that may make it sound quite old. But let’s look at it from another viewpoint or perspective. A few years ago, someone figured out that if you could condense the entire history of life on Earth into a motion picture that would run for 24 hours a day, 365 days – maybe on leap years we could have an intermission – this idea that is the United States wouldn’t appear on the screen until 3.5 seconds before midnight on December 31st. And in those 3.5 seconds not only would a new concept of society come into being, a golden hope for all mankind, but more than half the activity, economic activity in world history, would take place on this continent.
