Greatful to have had the opportunity to be around so much Black excellence during the Black Is Tech conference in Atlanta last week! I attended multiple breakout sessions on topics such as project management, AI, Digital Transformation and Change Management, FinTech, Driving Diversity in the Satellite and Space Industry, Black Entrepreneurship, and much more. This conference provided a wealth of knowledge and I am greatful for the meaningful connections I have made. Major takeaways: We are best suited to serve the people we once were. If you are in a room, know everybody’s job. The new hustle is tech. Digital transformation is born out of pressure. You have to get people to align to your vision or your transformation will fail. Transformation needs executive and senior level sponsorship. Involve the PEOPLE in your transformation. As you rise, bring others along with you. #blackistech2023 #wearetech

My first event with BetterUp and what a way to start! An authentic and truly inspiring panel with BetterUp Chief Impact Officer Prince Harry and Invictus Games superstar Mickaela Richards, as well as a thought-provoking fireside chat between BetterUp co-founder Alexi Robichaux and the brilliant Prof. Dr. Judith Mangelsdorf. I learnt so much, here’s three things I’ve been mulling over on my flight home... 1. When we talk about work-life balance, do we automatically assume work = bad, life = good? Actually, is the most important thing to make work fulfilling and meaningful, so we are able to enjoy every moment, whichever mode we’re in? Data would suggest so - for people and for businesses. 2. Across the 35 studies in Transformational Leadership, it’s been found that the easiest way to improve someone’s sense of meaning is; your boss telling you that they want you to find your work meaningful. Crazy that it can really be that simple!? One to take away if you’re a manager - the data is compelling (although I’m sure authenticity is essential). 3. Human’s are hardwired to be pessimistic and fear change - it’s part of our evolution. However, through the work by the likes of Dr. Martin Seligman and those studying positive phycology, we know that optimism has been proven to be the single biggest mindset for impacting human flourishing… and it can be coached! Exercising this muscle makes us more adaptive, more resilient, happier and more productive - another win win for humans and businesses alike.

I feel immensely privileged to have connected with so many dynamic individuals who share a fervent passion for innovation in the creative sector. The insights imparted by industry veterans, Shane Nickels and Rahim Mastafa, were nothing short of enlightening, providing a fresh perspective and fueling our collective ambition to foster a nurturing and collaborative environment for creatives. As we stand at the cusp of a new era of creativity, the excitement and enthusiasm to redefine the boundaries of what is possible are palpable. The collaborative spirit witnessed last night promises a future of groundbreaking developments and synergies. Happy Black History Month Two years ago, we produced a series called “Amplify Our Voices,” a docu-series showcasing black start-ups and black entrepreneurs, sharing their journey of entrepreneurship. We wanted to share the many perspectives from various industries from our participants and the community of founders. It's a beautiful piece highlighting the various ups and downs of entrepreneurship and what better time to resurface it than now? As a Black start-up and independent film company, we, have had our journey and obstacles of scaling as a business. We understand the importance of building a media and marketing presence and the struggles for businesses of color to thrive without this in place.  We hope to continue to share these stories to spread the amazing work that these companies do in their communities and inspire current and future entrepreneurs.  We also encourage you to celebrate Black History Month by sharing these stories and continually supporting Black-owned businesses.
