It’s a high pressure time of the year and frantically trying to forecast and re-forecast numbers based on additional budgets or last minute promotions can make it even more stressful! But what would have happened....? There are many instances where #marketing spend & effort delivers flat sales. The market may be declining, new competitors may have come in, you may have gone "all out before" and now had to cut back on budgets. Structured tests, or complex #dataanalysis may help demonstrate these trends; which enables you to make your case. However this can still be a difficult pill to swallow. For me, I am a fan of scenario planning. To this well, you need to: 1. Simplify your assumptions (broad strokes - what is/was the main driver in results) 2. What strategies could we have deployed & the level of risk 3. How would the end result have differed This is usually a great way to then pivot to the real question we should be asking.... What next?
