Part 2: Getting laid off sucks. But I firmly believe your interview process and employee experience should not. Here are three actions you + your company can take to create a better candidate and employee experience. ✍ Audit and review job descriptions. Remove vague, biased, and unnecessary bullets + requirements, and add in information about the interview process and how candidates can submit accommodation requests. ⏩ Block off time to review new applications on a regular and frequent cadence. 🤝 Host and prioritize weekly 1:1s with your direct reports. Here's the agenda template I always come back to: 1. Recognition - call out and celebrate what your people are doing well! 2. Wellbeing check-in, 3. Updates / Coaching, 4. Professional development - what do you want to do next? —————————- 🤞🏼I am #OpenToWork and looking for a new role in #peopleoperations and all leads are deeply appreciated. I truly am so excited to find my next team, where I can continue to do what I love most: creating meaningful, people-first experiences.

Going through a layoff initially posed its challenges, but it's been quite a revealing experience. However, I find myself wondering: is the task of finding a new job truly as daunting as it seems? Despite diligently following recommendations from both peers and HR experts, and even investing in premium software to boost my chances, the rate of securing interviews remains dishearteningly low. Is this indicative of the current job market's competitiveness, or are there other factors at play? #opentowork #jobhunt #productowner #productmanager

Are you feeling discouraged because you're not getting hired, despite the positive feedback you receive? It's natural to question your worth and wonder if you're not "amazing" enough. But remember, your value as a professional is not determined by the number of job offers you receive. Keep pushing forward, stay true to yourself, and the right opportunity will come your way. Don't forget that you are enough as you are. #selfworth #professionalvalue #keepgoing #OpenToWork

Today my job search journey starts again. After a lay off, multiple contract roles and a much needed break postpartum, I am starting my career search with hopes to land a new role at my forever home by the fall. Over the course of my 6 year career, I have: * Filled hundreds of roles and supported a large percentage of those candidates as they were promoted within their first year * Refreshed many hiring practices to reflect inclusion, equitable hiring, and an overall higher success rate * Created a platform where companies stood out amongst competitors and won over 11 awards for social media and online presence * Collected many testimonials from connections I have worked with on all aspects of the diligent and successful work I contributed to projects These are just a handful of my most proud moments, My career journey thusfar has been one that I did not expect, but has shaped me to be the committed, goal oriented and mission driven individual that I am today. If your team is looking for someone within Talent, HR, Onboarding or any customer/account focused role, I’d love to chat. #opentowork #hiring #talent #hr #onboarding #customersuccess #accountstrategy #socialmedia

Happy Monday LinkedIn Family! I've been on this job-hunting journey for the past 5 months, and it's been a rollercoaster ride. I've felt the excitement of interview invitations, the disappointment of not making it to the next round, and the all-too-familiar sinking feeling when an email simply says, "Thanks for Applying." But here I am, introducing myself in the hopes of sparking some positive connections and opportunities. I'm Mae West, a seasoned Talent Acquisition Specialist with more than a decade of experience client and customer satisfaction. My career has taken me through various industries, from retail to corporate, with a sprinkle of human services in the mix. Jr. Estimator at ID-Tech Solutions | IT Project Management Enthusiast | Passionate About Streamlining Processes & Efficiency
In the last 3 years, I have experienced being laid off twice due to circumstances beyond my control. This has resulted in shorter stints at two of my last three roles. During a recent interview, I was heavily questioned about my ‘limited experience’ in each role, but that’s not the full story. In today's dynamic business environment, change is inevitable. Companies evolve, industries shift, and sometimes, layoffs happen. It's important to recognize that "job hopping" can often be a reflection of the times rather than a lack of commitment or capability. I am currently six months unemployed since my last layoff in December. I am eager to contribute to a company long-term, to dive deep into its culture, and to grow with it from the inside out. I just haven’t had the chance to prove that yet. My diverse experiences have equipped me with resilience, adaptability, and a broad perspective—valuable traits in any professional setting. To employers, I urge you to look beyond the stigma. Give candidates like me the opportunity to show our dedication and potential. We are ready to commit and make a meaningful impact. #JobHopping #CareerGrowth #Hiring #Opportunity #Resilience #CareerJourney

Production Assistant/Runner @ Associated Television International | Pre/Post-Production, Attention to Details
It’s hard to keep your head up when applying to any companies that are offering “entry level” positions. I understand it’s competitive, but I feel discouraged that I don’t hear back within months and the positions are filled, nepotism in the hiring process, or “I’m not qualified or experienced” My message to anyone that feel hurt, depressed, upset, frustrated, etc… Keep going. One day; your chance will come and no matter how hard it gets, it will be worth it in the end. #socialsaturday #jobseeking #lookingjob #application #jobhunting #readytowork

Client Partner | Strategic Account Manager | Trusted Executive Advisor | Drives Digital Transformation Rev in Technology l SaaS Software, Consulting Services, Generative AI/ML, Data Analytics, Robotics
When a company considers you as their last choice for a role. I was contacted the other day by a company for an exciting role. When I went through my notes about the company, I had applied for the role 3 months earlier. I went forward with the interview but was curious and asked: “What has been going on with this role for the last three months?” The response- “We can’t find the right person”. A week later, the role was placed on hold. I’m sure there were excellent candidates before me since I wasn’t their 1st or 2nd or 3rd or even their 4th choice. The company wanted to find even better ones. We are experiencing a very weird and selective job market. Companies are slowly hiring and at times, trying to find the perfect match. It’s expensive to hire the wrong person, and it’s expensive to miss opportunities. From my experience as Strategic Account Manager/Client Partner in past roles, I know what it’s like to encounter a complex problem, break it down to the root cause, and find a solution….quickly. Let’s get everyone working because everyone can contribute to getting the job done! #opentowork #salesjobs #jobseekers #wednesdaywisdom #getthejobdone

Post your OPEN to WORK banner proudly! It’s a great tool to let people know that you are looking. Anyone who thinks you should be “ashamed” of being out of work is clearly out of touch with reality. Many people have been laid off, some of them multiple times during and after the pandemic. Companies lay off people without any regard to their performance or contributions. Top performers are laid off just as often as new staff or the “just doing my job” crowd. People are on LinkedIn for support, help and community. Not to be judged or shamed for something completely beyond their control. #resumewriting #openforwork #jobsearch

Ex-Google | Helping Job Seekers Secure Their Next Role Through Expert Mentorship & Coaching in 90 Days| Get Our 4-Step Career Guide at: MPHTechAcademy.com
Yesterday, I spoke to someone I connected with on LinkedIn if they were still looking for a job. He replied, "Happy to let you know I landed a role in 39 days of being laid off, but let’s keep in touch 😊 " I asked him how he did it. This was his response: 1. I started my search the day after my layoff 2. I let HR know early in the process that I had other conversations going with other employers and I’d like to move as quickly as possible without rushing their process. 3. When I got my first offer, I leveraged it to make sure companies who reached out to me knew I was in demand 4. I went from first call to offer in 7 days with a company that claimed the process would take 2-3 weeks 5. I made the process personalized and did more than what was asked to ensure I stood out For all the jobseekers out there: This is how you do it!!
