I don’t normally write posts like this. For those that know me, my posts are pragmatic and straight to the point. It’s the Yorkshire man in me! However, I was at Silverstone this weekend and a few thoughts struck me that I wanted to share. I have long been a fan of F1, particularly of Lewis Hamilton and watching his win this weekend at Silverstone, after 945 days without a win, was quite special. Following the race, he spoke about the difficulty to maintain his training and belief in himself, questioning whether he (a 7-time world champion) was good enough to win again. I have seen this mentality many times in F1. Drivers winning races against the odds, pushing themselves and their car to the limit to get over the line before anyone else. Having a bad day in qualifying yet turning it around the next day to come from behind to win a race. In therapy I often reference F1, to illustrate that anything is possible. Not letting your past influence your present, realising that the future is not written, and anything can happen. If you put the work in, with determination and self-belief, anything is achievable. There will always be moments when life gets life tough, and we struggle. This is normal, everyone feels this way, even an incredible sportsman like Lewis. But it’s not how you feel in these moments that define you. It is what you do next. It is okay to feel negative emotions, but they don’t have to influence our thoughts negatively. Lewis held onto that self-belief, however shaken by past race results, and chose to see each day as a new opportunity. Using those emotions to drive him to that win on Sunday. Emotions whether positive or negative can be harnessed to help us achieve many things. Nothing is set in stone. Whether it is in business, our career or life. With hard work, determination and self-belief we can realise our dreams.

Absolutely thrilled to have come across this news clipping from a year back! Grateful for the recognition highlighted in this local newspaper article, showcasing my achievements in winning medals 🏅 in both the 50m and 25m pistol categories at the state level. 🎯. I remember starting my journey in the field of shooting at the age of 9. At the time I struggled to even hold the rifle steadily and the first time I got a bullseye is a memory that I cherish even today. Ranking 1st at the district level consecutively for 3 years pushed me to try even harder and go for the state meet. It ended in a crushing defeat for me. I faced a similar result my second time only with a worse ranking. I had many thoughts about quitting shooting but it had become a part of my life which I could not do without. Fast forward 7 years and I have represented my state at the National Games twice. My whole journey in this sport has taught me to stay dedicated and committed. A key factor which I feel separates shooting from many other sports is that your competition is not with others rather with yourself. Your state of mind decided what your final outcome is. To those who have been having a rough time, remember this- Even the best have had their ups and downs but they never let that decide their lives for them. They kept pushing and pushing till they fulfilled their ambitions. So I'll end this with a simple message- Keep Going. Even through the toughest and darkest nights for on the other side awaits the light, for which you embarked on this journey. #sports #shootingsports #news #accomplishments #motivation #insight #personalgrowth #inspiration #positivemindset #nationals

Back in February, I ran a Spartan race at the Dodgers Stadium with my boys. If you're not familiar with Spartan races, they're known for their challenging obstacles, and this one was no exception. With 20 obstacles, some easy and some more difficult like the rope climb, I trained for months to prepare. If you fail an obstacle, they make you do 15 burpees, which was tough. At the beginning of the race, I started by bear crawling my way from the ground to the top of the stadium. About halfway up, I thought, "why the hell did I sign up for this?!" It was kind of like when I started my company, Empire Technologies Group Inc. back in 2005. At first, things seemed insurmountable, and I questioned my decision. But, about midway through the race, I started feeling better as I got into the stands and had some great views of the stadium. However, that feeling didn't last long as I turned corners and faced 7-foot walls, monkey bars, and rings. It's like the story of our company - as soon as you feel like you're making it, here comes a new obstacle! In the end, I failed two of the 20 obstacles and paid the price with burpees. It reminded me of the cost we must pay in business when we miss the mark. However, finishing was great because they gave us some cool-looking medals and a cool t-shirt, but more importantly, the pride we felt in overcoming the obstacles was priceless. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm looking forward to doing it again. It's like in business - you face challenges, but it's how you overcome them that counts. #SpartanRace #OvercomingObstacles #BusinessLessons #empiretechs Pedro Estrada
