In honor of May being Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Month, we partnered with Madewell APIDA associates to help share and provide some personal recommendations of theirs to help others honor their history. These included what we could all Watch, Listen To, and Read as a company this month to honor and celebrate the rich culture of our APIDA associates and in turn we wanted to share some of those suggestions with our larger Madewell community—you! #APIDA #HeritageMonth #TeamMadewell

Reflection Week 4 During Week 4 of the DIFW RSM course, my group had their first interview with Tessa Mertens from Erasmus Verbindt. The discussion covered a wide range of topics related to the company's initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion, providing insightful information about both the difficulties and achievements encountered. During our conversation, she recounted a job interview in which a person of colour asked about the organisation's diversity. Tessa's remark, which exposed the core team's lack of diversity, emphasised how vital representation is, as the interviewee did not want to work in an organisation with only white employees. It demonstrated how people look for environments where they feel seen and represented. This conversation highlighted the importance of diversity that goes beyond just numbers. It reaffirmed the idea that representation is important for creating a sense of understanding and belonging among team members.

Embracing the Colors of Corporate Life: Inspiring Lessons from Holi's Legends 🌈 As we celebrate the joyous festival of Holi, let's infuse our corporate journey with positivity and inspiration drawn from the tales of Holika, Prahlad, and Hiranyakashyap. Hiranyakashyap, driven by ambition and power, reminds us of the potential for leadership to uplift and empower. While his methods may have been flawed, his determination and vision can inspire us to strive for excellence in our professional endeavors. Let's harness his ambition positively, aiming not just for personal success but for the greater good of our teams and organizations. Prahlad's unwavering integrity and resilience serve as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path to ethical leadership and enduring success. In the face of adversity, let's emulate his courage and commitment to truth, knowing that integrity is the foundation upon which sustainable growth and prosperity are built. Holika, though manipulated by Hiranyakashyap, teaches us the power of redemption and transformation. Just as she ultimately renounced her malicious intentions, we too can learn from our mistakes, embrace change, and strive to create positive impact in our workplaces and beyond. As we come together to celebrate Holi, let's weave the vibrant hues of these legends into the fabric of our corporate culture. Let's cultivate a spirit of ambition tempered with empathy, integrity, and resilience. Let's empower each other to rise above challenges, foster collaboration, and create workplaces where every individual can thrive and flourish. Here's to a colorful and fulfilling journey ahead! #HappyHoli #PositiveCorporateCulture #Inspiration #leadership #buranamano #Holihai #legends 🎉🎨

Good read about 'Cancel Culture' from the team The Media Precinct. Some great points: 1. The risk of brands becoming bland as they are fearful of backlash. 2. More than ever brands need to be authentic and purposeful. 3. If something goes wrong have a plan, ask an expert to manage your reputation with the long-term in mind.

My blog ‘Mutual Respect’ 12.4.2024 Mutual respect is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship, be it personal or professional. It's about valuing each other's opinions, boundaries, and differences without judgment. In a world where diversity is celebrated, mutual respect becomes even more crucial as it fosters understanding and empathy across various cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. When individuals treat each other with respect, it creates an environment where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to contribute their best, ultimately leading to stronger connections and more collaborative endeavors. So let's make mutual respect a guiding principle in our interactions, paving the way for a more inclusive and harmonious society. ~Ayub Siddiqui
