I get to work with amazing teachers and humans at the Knowles Teacher Initiative who thoughtfully and courageously share their stories about teaching, learning, and building a stronger and better system of education for students and teachers alike. Erin's article, Invisible Identities, asks: What would it take to create a system of schooling where taking care of oneself was not separate from existing within a school community? A system in which care and learning were intertwined? https://lnkd.in/eQ-xy5yD

🌟Post 153: Real Education Shines Through Our Actions 🌟 In the realm of education, let's remember that real learning goes beyond textbooks and exams. It's about how we treat each other, how we embrace differences, and how we uplift those around us. 🌟 Storytime: Imagine a classroom where a brave little girl, facing facial challenges, initially felt different from her peers. But what happened next was truly heartwarming. 🥰 😊 The students, instead of judging, chose empathy and understanding. They celebrated her uniqueness by adorning their own faces with beautiful drawings, turning their differences into a tapestry of acceptance. 🌈 This touching story reminds us that education isn't just about what we know but how we treat others. It's about fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is seen for their individual strengths. 💬 Share Your Stories: Have you experienced a moment that showcased the true essence of education through compassion and acceptance? Share your stories in the comments below and let's inspire others to celebrate uniqueness! 🌟🤝 #EducationBeyondBooks #EmbraceDiversity #InclusivityMatters #CompassionInEducation

Exciting to see this development, but it's regrettable that the program had such long-standing support. Lucy Calkins, despite her prominence, is arguably anything but a 'literacy scholar.' Offering teachers opportunities for collaboration is valuable, but it shouldn't overshadow the curriculum's proven ineffectiveness, especially for students who need support the most. #EducationalChange #scienceofreading #dyslexiaeducation

Over the past year Rie Algeo Gilsdorf and I have had our heads deep in theory, explicating the relationship between a design process and Reggio-inspired pedagogy as they pertain to developing a broader consciousness of race and difference. Through a rigorous process of critical thinking, engaging multiple perspectives, deep listening, prototyping, reflection, and documentation we've broken down each into component parts and attempted to weave them together - a process that entailed oscillating back and forth between theory and practice. We sought to bring visibility to our own learning by writing a series of articles for the REGGIO-INSPIRED NETWORK OF MINNESOTA. Part four, Getting to Belonging: Putting Design into Practice, was recently published in the Spring Newsletter; to learn more about documentation as a fundamental tool and see examples of documentation in practice, click the link to the Newsletter. https://lnkd.in/gtghJrbd #reggioemilia #pedagogy #deeplistening #teacherresearcher #reggioinspired #makinglearningvisible #earlychildhood #designthinking #theoryu #prototyping #empathy #racialequity #broaderconsciousness #discourse #reflection #documentation
