Quit Kicking Dead Horses! #nextsteps #movingforward #engagementstrategy #posting I grew up hearing these two saying that mean the same: “Quit kicking a dead horse. It won’t ride again.” and “The definition of ‘Insanity’ is to keep doing the same thing but expecting a different result.” – I fear that this is what I have been doing lately. From 2005 to 2013 I had my “15 minutes of fame.” My website was ranked in the top sites in the world. And every post I made got at least 2,000 views. My engines were humming. – I was directly assisting hundreds of US Military, veterans, and their families every month. – But since that time, my engagement has steadily waned. -- What once worked for me, no longer does. – And so, I am stopping what I have ben doing. I need to reevaluate and recreate a new plan. For me, the social networks are absolutely necessary for accomplishing my goals. But navigating them and maximizing their effectiveness for my purposes has become increasing challenging and difficult. -- That makes sense because since the beginning of Web 2.0 the numbers of online users has exploded from millions into trillions. Consequently, the algorithms for these networks to select good content from bad, and to separate each into appropriate categories, and then to identify people with which to share that information has also multiplied in complexity too. I must put away what once was my ‘tried and true’ methods. They are now like dead horses. Consequently, I am researching and learning the new ways and elevating my efforts to modern day standards. I must take the time to learn and discover other avenues to engage my target markets and to maximize my effectiveness. Mark Baird
