This is a previous post on position of uv light. Actually for air disinfection, uv light should be positioned before the cooling coil as high humidity and low temperature affects its effectiveness for air borne disinfection. For good air disinfection, a longer section of duct (min 0.6m for good residence time) with reflective surface will be good and lights positioned parallel to air flow is the ideal. Note that for covid 19 virus disinfection, you would need a better efficiency filter than G4 so that any particles that pass the filter will not be big enough to shade the light from reaching the virus. So, the UV light here serves the main purpose of disinfecting the coil in my opinion. Learning HVAC in AHU configuration and selection. Click to learn. https://lnkd.in/gTUJ_DYj

Got this great unsolicited review from a customer: I DO NOT normally post info like this but UV works so below is FYI to my friends... NOT a sales pitch. PLEASE read as cold, flu and the "C" word Seasons are coming back with school and fall/winter... If you know me (and Brittaney) we like to budget and crunch data so here are some Real World facts from our household with a UV unit installed in our HVAC controller unit. This is from our actual home budget/spreadsheets and our 2021 to 2023 electric bills/data. From 2021 to 2022 our bills increased about 15% (about +$300) for the year... We basically budget about an additional 10% per month above the average bill amount to cover the normal spikes in the coldest and hottest months. SO, an additional 5% above our buffer hurt... We had Adam (in video below) install a unit in late 2022. Our bills so far in 2023 have Decreased 18.5% at an average of over $40 less per bill (per month). Our house/temps/humidity is pretty steady so I have to attribute most if not all of that to the UV unit. This is in addition to the reason we actually installed UV which is to lessen sickness and allergens... These facts are anecdotal (from our experience) but we have absolutely noticed less overall sickness. We did bring home some colds and things but did not pass them to each other living together like we normally do and they sure seemed to have a shortened length. I personally had a bad flu like virus that no-one else got (normally most of us would get sick as we pass the virus around the house). Our daughters brought viruses (like strep) home from school that did not pass around the whole household. Also, Our HVAC unit is cleaner and runs better as the UV unit has "cleaned" the dust and growth that is in everyone's HVAC unit. Yes it is actually obvious that the UV light is eliminating stuff from you unit and coil... SAFE AIR UV is not just for commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, etc... It is working great at home too. --- I can't thank James Hammond enough for the kind words. We are blessed to be able to serve his family.
