I just finished judging entries for the 2024 Reggie awards for the ANA. What did I learn? 1. Overall budget doesn't matter. It's all about the insights and an idea that tightly connects with them and solves an issue. A bigger budget doesn't make a poorly defined opportunity, any better. 2. Results do matter. Be prepared to share as much info as you can. Seeing how the campaign impacted sales makes the difference between a good entry and a category winner. If your entry didn't win it's probably because the one that did win was able to prove their case by providing more detailed reporting on sales uplift. 3. A "video is worth a thousand words". Slightly changing the old standard saying to make a point that including a video case study helps the judge (in this case yours truly) see how the campaign came to life across multiple channels. This makes the difference down the stretch when trying to determine the winner in a category. I know they can be costly to produce but also try to limit the amount of B-Roll you use. Too much B-Roll makes the cases study feel generic.
