Every June we take the opportunity to join the LGBTQ+ community in celebrating Pride month. To show our support, we lift our voices and join the chorus of beautiful and powerful words like Happy Pride, Celebrate Pride and Fight for the human rights of the LGBTQ+ Community. This year I wanted to highlight a fact that makes the meaning of these celebratory and impactful words more special and bring them closer to our hearts. This year during Pride month, as we stand side by side with our sons, our daughters, our brothers and sisters, our friends, our parents and our partners, we speak these celebratory, impactful words from the heart to share our hope of Happy Pride with the people we love in the LGBTQ+ community. So let’s join hands with those we hold dear in a united celebration of their love, their rightful place in society, and their ongoing fight for human rights. But most importantly, let’s stand with our LGBTQ+ family members and dear friends to demonstrate our love, respect, and wholehearted support.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈 June is dedicated to celebrating the contributions and successes of the LGBTQ+ community and shine a spotlight on the progress that has been made towards equality. Visibility and representation are so important as historically LGBTQ+ stories and experiences have been overlooked. Whilst Pride is a celebration, it is also a chance for us to reflect on how we support LGBTQ+ individuals within society and the workplace, and ways in which we can promote an inclusive and diverse environment. This might be through engaging with LGBTQ+ Art, supporting LGBTQ+ owned businesses, or reflecting on how we can be more inclusive in our daily lives. In the professional sphere it is essential that companies have the appropriate policies in place to support LGBTQ+ colleagues and to prevent discrimination. This could range from encouraging employees to include their pronouns in email signatures, to ensuring that information regarding parental and adoption leave are readily available and that they consider a variety of family dynamics. 🏘 Pride Month gives us a dedicated space to talk about the LGBTQ+ community; however, it is important that these practices and conversations take place all year round.
