💙 It's OK to feel sad, betrayed, alone...
A layoff will do that to you...
🙏 You might also find that you have more positive emotions as well...
💡 You will likely encounter "coping and adaptive emotions" that help you deal with the situation and move forward:
✅ Relief. Arises when you feel a sense of release from a stressful or unsatisfactory job situation, or a realization that it is actually time to move on.
✅ Hope and Optimism. A positive outlook on the future and the belief that better opportunities are ahead.
✅ Determination. Reflects a strong resolve to overcome challenges and succeed in future endeavors.
✅ Curiosity. An eagerness to explore new problems, fields, learn new skills, or consider different career paths.
✅ Gratitude. Appreciating the experiences, skills, and relationships gained from your previous job.
✅ Empathy. The ability to understand and share the feelings of others, especially those who might be going through similar experiences.
Here's a sample 3-month plan, with some detailed ideas about Month #1, and it's yours to adjust 💪😃:
➡️ Month 1: Initial Coping and Support. This is probably the most important step!!! Don't skip it!
💙 Week 1: Process the initial shock. Allow yourself to feel your emotions, and understand that they are a natural response. You don't have to do this alone!
🏃🏽♀️ Week 2: Begin establishing a daily routine incorporating self-care activities like exercise, hobbies, and relaxation techniques. Your health is critical now more than ever!
🤗 Week 3: Reach out to friends, family, or a support group for emotional support. Consider professional counseling if needed. If you are hesitant PLEASE let me know!
💭 Week 4: Reflect on your career goals. Start setting small, achievable goals for your job search and personal development. "Achievable" is the key word here!
➡️ Month 2: Skill Development and Job Search Preparation
➡️ Month 3: Active Job Search and Emotional Maintenance

1moKristi Royse this is so true. It is so important to live in the present. Yes, you will remember the struggles and setbacks of your past, but it's up to you to rise above these challenges and to use these stumbles and lessons to inform your decisions moving forward. It's never healthy to dwell on past failures.
