🌟 Spotlight on the 2024 EIC Accelerator Challenges: Advancing Renewable Energy and its Value Chain. In 2022, investments in renewable energy surpassed those in fossil fuels, signaling a major shift towards sustainable energy. The EIC Accelerator Challenge is now poised to further accelerate this transformation, focusing on the full spectrum of renewable energy sources (RES) and their value chain— from mining and manufacturing to recycling. 🌍 This challenge seeks to Scale Manufacturing, by increasing the EU's capacity to produce RES; to Innovate Material Use, by developing new technologies for mining, processing, and synthesising; and to Promote Circular Econonmy, by enhancing the reuse of technology for RES components. 📊 Objectives and Impact: ◾ Strengthen the EU’s energy autonomy by enhancing RES production capabilities and reducing reliance on imported components. ◾ Diversify and Secure the RES market by building a resilient supply chain that can adapt to environmental and market changes. 💰 With a budget of EUR 50 million, this challenge not only seeks to spark innovation but aims to fundamentally change how we produce and manage energy.
