Juneteenth is an important day in American history, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were now free. This announcement came over two years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, which had officially abolished slavery in the confederate states. As we mark this significant milestone, it is essential to remember that the fight for freedom and justice for all continues. Juneteenth serves as a reminder that progress can be slow and uneven and that we must remain vigilant in our efforts to combat systemic racism and discrimination. At Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, my team is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected and advocating for ongoing change. We recognize that diversity and inclusion are essential to our success and a culture of belonging allows our team to be seen, heard, and valued. As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us continue our commitment to promoting equality and justice for all. Together, we can build a better future for ourselves and future generations 💙 #Juneteenth #Freedom #Justice #Diversity #Inclusion #Belonging

On this day, that celebrates our country's independence, let's also keep in mind- that we are fighting for our own independence in November. Project 2025, creates a King, instead of a President, turning this county into an autocracy. History repeats itself. And autocratic movements are international. The fight for our freedoms, began with Dobbs, which removed full citizenship from women. If Trump wins, many, many others will also lose their rights to be full citizens. Ignore the poll-polling data is some of the worst data in existence. The sole thing we ALL must do, is get people registered, and to the polls. Young people have indicated in good research, that they are tired of it all, and may not vote-yet their vote was a big part of Biden's victory. We need to energize young people, and ourselves. We are all, already wounded warriors, like the song says. But we get up, even with our wounds, and we fight like hell. At this point-it is ALL about who and how many- come out to vote. That's what it's come down to. Volunteer! I'll be driving people to the polls all day. Call the League of Women Voters, wherever you live, and ask them what you can do to help. It's astounding-but we have to fight even harder this time. But it's a must. Project 2025 is the end of our democracy. Debates aren't important-most people don't watch them. Biden's mental fitness is just fine-don't pay any attention to that crap. Think about how hard it might be to debate a man who simply lies and lies and lies. That isn't a debate. Please- do MORE this time. A lot can be done from home. Making calls, for example, to registered voters in your district, asking if people have a plan to vote. Call your House Reps and Senators. Tell them to fight like hell, and ask if there's anything you can do to help them win. I've had the Congressional Switchboard as a contact on my phone for years. Calls DO make a difference. Here is the number- the operators will connect you to anyone in the House or Senate: 202-224-3121. Yes, we are wounded warriors already, but we must get up, get together, and fight again. It's Independance Day. Let's make sure we don't lose OUR independence in November! #freedom #civilrights #civilliberties #democracy #autocracy #independance #vote #trump #gop #scotus #fight

Diversity We can not have diversity without unity and the only unifying force we have in society is the law. Today in nz the law is not being applied equally to all. Values - Define your values and adhere To them. Dignity and respect - if you can’t treat people with dignity and respect then get out. The armed services don’t tolerate racism and disrespect in their ranks. Greed ignorance and prejudice have become normal in nz society and that needs to change. Racism is more powerful than a rifle. A fantastic speech on racism and how to deal with it. https://lnkd.in/gZgUdvZf

Patriot Day, observed on September 11, is profoundly significant in our nation's history. This day serves as a solemn reminder of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, when our country faced one of its darkest moments. It's a day to honor the memory of the lives lost, and the heroism displayed, but it also signifies the enduring spirit of unity and resilience that defines America. On this Patriot Day, we remember the first responders, the courageous individuals who put their lives on the line to save others, and the countless acts of kindness and solidarity that emerged from the ashes of tragedy. It is a day that underscores the American people's strength and unwavering commitment to freedom and justice. Let Patriot Day remind us that we can overcome even the most challenging circumstances when we stand together and support one another. Today, we commemorate the past, acknowledge our shared resilience, and look forward to a future where these principles continue to guide our nation's journey. #PatriotDay #UnitedWeStand #Remember911

🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸 Today, we celebrate Flag Day, a special day to honor the symbol of our nation's unity and freedom—the American flag. 🌟 Civics Lesson of the Day: Flag Etiquette and Lesser-Known Facts The American flag, also known as "Old Glory," represents the values and history of our country. Here are some lesser-known facts and important etiquette about our flag: Lesser-Known Facts: 1. Flag Code: The United States Flag Code, established in 1923, provides guidelines on how to display and handle the flag. It’s a set of rules to ensure the flag is treated with the respect it deserves. 2. Never at Half-Mast by Mistake: The flag is only flown at half-mast by specific orders, usually by the President or a state governor, to honor and remember the sacrifices of our nation's heroes. 3. No Flag Higher: When displayed with other flags, the American flag should always be at the highest point or to the flag's own right (the observer’s left). 4. Proper Disposal: When a flag is worn and no longer fit for display, it should be retired in a respectful manner, typically by burning in a dignified ceremony. Did You Know? 1. Folding the Flag: There is a specific way to fold the American flag into a triangular shape, which symbolizes the hats worn by colonial soldiers during the American Revolution. 2. The Flag’s Birthplace: The first American flag was commissioned by the Continental Congress and crafted by Betsy Ross, a seamstress in Philadelphia. 3. National Anthem Connection: The Star-Spangled Banner, written by Francis Scott Key, was inspired by the sight of the American flag flying over Fort McHenry after a battle during the War of 1812. Let's come together to honor our flag and reflect on the principles it stands for. Share your pictures and stories with #FlagDay and #OldGlory to spread the patriotic spirit! 🇺🇸✨ "One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, one nation evermore!" - Oliver Wendell Holmes Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸 #Civics #Patriotism #AmericanFlag #FlagDay2024
