Holding the door open, could just lead to a door being opened for you...
Over the weekend, I found myself in several conversations where people attributed their perceived luck to who they knew rather than what they knew.
Whether it was securing a house, landing a job, or getting a spot at a new daycare, connections seemed to play a crucial role.
Reflecting on this in relation to the job market, it’s clear that connections matter significantly. Finding common ground with the vacancy, whether through direct or second/third degree connections with the hiring manager, or even connections to a competitor business, can transform you from a cold applicant to a preferred candidate.
But it makes sense, doesn’t it?
We naturally go the extra mile for someone we know, trust, or have a mutual connection with. This realisation made me smile, thinking about how karma plays it's part.
Those known for their kindness, thoughtfulness, smile, or even small gestures like holding the door, are more likely to have doors held open for them in return.
Being nice wins.
