Exciting news! Last week marked the launch of "Store Explore", a project that Motion RE Media has been tirelessly working on in collaboration with DFS for over 18 months. Over the past two years, we have closely partnered with DFS' store format and refit teams to film 3D virtual tours and drone surveys. These cutting-edge tours have proven invaluable for various teams within DFS, aiding in store familiarisation and establishing model store formats. Considering DFS' extensive portfolio of 150+ stores, managing and staying acquainted with such a vast number of properties presents a significant challenge. However, Store Explore aims to address this hurdle by granting all staff members virtual access to stores. This approach ultimately seeks to minimise the need for unnecessary site visits by internal staff and subcontractors, while simultaneously fostering progress. To ensure widespread accessibility, the Store Explore booth has been installed in the reception and cafe area of the Group Support Centre. By doing so, we are actively striving to reduce the frequency of needless visits made throughout the country to DFS stores. As we navigated through the process, we faced a significant challenge - ensuring our kiosks meet ADA standards and are accessible to individuals with disabilities. 🚧 We dove deep into the regulations, learning the specific height and width requirements for the kiosks. Our key takeaway? Display height should be between 48-54 inches, overall height should not exceed 6ft, and protrusion should be no more than 4 inches. 📏 This challenge turned into an opportunity for growth, reinforcing the importance of inclusivity in design.
