Life Sciences industry: Best Places to work Interesting reading from BioSpace's 2024 Best Places to Work list, which features 60 U.S.-based employers in the life sciences industry, emphasising the significance of prioritizing staff well-being, culture, and long-term success. This is something that the candidates we work with are highlighting more and more as the most important aspect of deciding where they would like to work. For the third year in a row, Moderna leads the large employers category, particularly excelling in innovation. The top five large employers also include Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, Eli Lilly and Company, and Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. In the small employers category, Tessera Therapeutics stands out for its genome engineering technology, strong culture, diversity, equity, inclusion, and leadership. The top five small employers include Poseida Therapeutics, Inc., Sana Biotechnology, Inc., AnaptysBio, and Eikon Therapeutics. A common thread among these companies is their dedication to employee-centric values. Achieving recognition as a Best Place to Work not only acknowledges their commitment but also strengthens their attractiveness to top talent in the industry. It's great to see the names of some organisations that as a business RBW Consulting knows very well and have partnered with previously. #BestPlacesToWork #LifeSciences

This was my previous submission to ELRIG's Impact Award (Drug Discovery 2023) – spoiler alert: I wasn’t chosen, but it gave me opportunity to look into my past career and reflect on my achievements. Also, it had been a while since I had updated my CV! I have a passion for affinity. I first encountered affinity in the protein purification field as an undergraduate, but soon discovered its power in many different areas. Through the years I broaden my scientific knowledge and contributed with 9 first-author articles to the affinity ligand research. For the past 4 years I applied my expertise in affinity to the drug discovery industry. Although it’s known to be a long game, my goal is to develop molecules that can one day make someone’s life better. I have had the opportunity to contribute to many challenging discovery projects and deliver on high value projects to external collaborators. This includes molecules that will be entering Phase I clinical trials at the beginning of 2024. I learned how to apply affinity towards people and teams. Working in a CRO environment can be ruthless due to tight timelines and high expectations. Currently, as Alliances Manager of Isogenica Limited and proud leader of a small team of 5 hard-working individuals, I believe in values and personal growth to upskill and engage. This has allowed us to deliver on impactful discovery campaigns. My affinity towards personal relationships and growth has made me the person with the most reports in the company. I use creativity and problem-solving to address challenging drug discovery projects and develop molecules fit for purpose. I am an expert generalist, drawing on my knowledge from different areas to help better understand clients’ needs. My focus on collaborative relationships, affinity and high work standards has led past partners come back to my team after they have moved to new organisations. My main goal now is to explore collaborative approaches to meet the partners’ requirements by leveraging affinity between their needs and our workflow. As I develop my career, I want to influence and contribute to the new wave of drug discovery scientists that know how to grow and grow others, fostering transparency and collaboration in the industry. #affinity #alliances #relationship #team #Isogenica

For an industry that prides itself on cutting-edge innovation, it’s crazy that we are embracing ‘normalcy’. According to a new report by Cushman & Wakefield, following the wild ride of the pandemic, the life science industry is returning to fundamentals that propelled the sector prior to 2020, including focusing on drugs and therapies for an aging population, addressing supply chain challenges, and demonstrating clinical trial successes to secure continued funding. The report indicates life science companies have a favorable window of opportunity to secure office or lab space, however it is not likely to last. Check out the report, which is divided globally, by key life science hubs. https://bit.ly/49gTPiY Times of change require transformational leadership. At Bench, we employ a 360-degree assessment of candidates. Our ‘FIT’ assessment evaluates not only hard skills, such as experience and competency, but also values, beliefs and adaptability – all designed to ensure that your C-suite candidate is well suited to produce long term impact within your organization.
