June is a month of celebration as we honor both the Global Day of Parents on June 1 and Father's Day later this month. These occasions remind us of the essential roles parents play in shaping our lives, both at home and in the workplace. As we mark the Global Day of Parents, let's reflect on the pivotal role of HR in supporting parental leave policies and work-life balance initiatives. HR teams play a crucial part in creating family-friendly workplaces where parents can thrive professionally while nurturing their families. Father's Day is a time to recognize the dedication of fathers everywhere. From supporting flexible work arrangements to promoting a supportive culture, HR departments play a key role in championing equality and inclusivity for working fathers. To all the fathers and parents, your commitment is truly appreciated. 🙌 How does your organization support parental leave and work-life balance? Parental leave is a valuable resource for young families. However, many employees don’t take the time they are eligible for because the application process is confusing. As a company, you can make the process easier for managers and employees by soliciting feedback from previous parental leave candidates and their supervisors. Then, use that feedback to create training resources for managers and employees. An easier and more transparent process will reduce the stigma of taking parental leave and make it easier for supervisors to plan leave appropriately!

"People on parental leave are not receiving any communication at all about their job and about aspects that might affect their job." This piece, delving into Dr Rachael Potter's research into parents' work conditions for the Centre for Workplace Excellence (CWeX), reveals that discrimination against new parents is still alive and well before, during and after parental leave. It saddens us to read this. We know just how important it is for parents to be supported through this vulnerable time. We also know that the right, meaningful support can be very powerful, and lead to positive outcomes at both an individual and organisational level. #WorkingParents https://lnkd.in/gw3pgQk4
