Remember these two words: Selective and Recognizable.  When it comes to leadership positions, strive to obtain leadership roles in recognizable organizations such as NHS, STUCO, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts.  Leadership roles in well-known organizations that are selective of their members and where you are elected for your position will earn you more points with the Academies. 

Its surprising how often "getting my mojo back" crops up in our discussions... see below! It really can be tough to maintain that positivity and drive sometimes when you're in the lonely top spot. Everyone is watching and interpreting your mood shadow! A Vistage group and the relationship of trust, respect, and confidentiality with the group really comes into its own now. Infrastructure orgs post 3! *Including an important alert about the wonderful Walter Dickie Leadership Bursary!* WCVA | CGGC is the national membership body for voluntary organisations in Wales; their mission is to support us to "make a bigger difference together". At Circus Eruption we benefit a lot from their ongoing support. This comes in many forms... including: - a regular online 'governance update' which is seriously useful for Trustees as well as staff with delegated powers (organised and run by Mair Rigby); - a number of funding streams (on which we've failed more than we've won, statistically - keep going if that's you too) including for volunteer support, investment in our future, emergency c-19; - niche non financial support through Catalyst Cymru (supporting us with the development of our listed building - and some ££ for two videos about it; brilliant!); - fundraising support; - even collaborative engagement with a team who wanted to learn from and build on our local action through the pandemic (was a bit of a mixed experience to be honest but, you know); - I went to an event on 'risk and resilience' in late 2018 when we were considering the building we eventually bought - where Alun Jones from WCVA's Social Investment Cymru team, who I'd never met before, said that GOVERNANCE IS EVERYTHING. I did a bit of listening that day and it made a very big difference. Last but definitely not least, I was awarded the 2019 WCVA Walter Dickie Leadership Bursary - a £2500 investment in expanding my horizons, basically, which incredible, and IS NOW OPEN for 2023!
