Well, folks, it happened. Like it has with many of you. I got laid off. Months ago. It’s tough, no doubt about it. The job search can feel like an emotional rollercoaster, filled with rejection, ghosting, and the occasional existential crisis. But despite all this, I’ve learned some invaluable lessons along the way. Lesson #1: Embrace the Daily Reset Button Every single day is a fresh start. You get to decide how your day goes. Rejection? It stings, but it's a stepping stone. Ghosting? Frustrating, but it's their loss. Silence from recruiters? Perfect time for a coffee break. While you can’t control what happens to you, you can control how you respond. Lesson #2: Gratitude Isn’t Just for Thanksgiving I’ve started leaning into gratitude like it’s a new workout routine. It’s easy to get bogged down by the negatives, but there’s power in focusing on what you do have. A supportive network, new opportunities, and yes, even the extra time to perfect my 𝚜̶𝚘̶𝚞̶𝚛̶𝚍̶𝚘̶𝚞̶𝚐̶𝚑̶ ̶𝚛̶𝚎̶𝚌̶𝚒̶𝚙̶𝚎̶ chocolate chip cookie recipe (because who doesn’t love a good̶𝚕̶𝚘̶𝚊̶𝚏̶ cookie?). Lesson #3: Be Present and Be Helpful Instead of getting stuck in my own head, I’m practicing being present. It’s amazing how much lighter things feel when you’re there for others. Need a résumé reviewed? I’m your guy. Want to brainstorm ideas? Let’s chat. Being helpful not only distracts me from my own situation, but it’s also incredibly fulfilling. Lesson #4: It’s Okay to Have Tough Days Let’s be real. Some days are just hard. The key is to acknowledge those feelings and keep moving forward. It’s okay to have a moment (or a few) where things feel overwhelming. What matters is how you bounce back and keep pushing forward. So here’s to the journey, the highs, the lows, and everything in between. If you’re in the same boat, remember: You’ve got this. We’ve got this. Let’s keep pushing forward, one day at a time. #JobSeeking #Resilience #Gratitude #NewBeginnings

Very classy my friend. Job hunting, even in the best of circumstances, is its own kind of gauntlet. Sending good mojo. ;)

The market is so horrible right now. I have been looking since January and have only had 3 or 4 interviews that never pan out. I am an event planner who has my own company but my business has been a little slow. I decided I would work but and haven’t actually done event planning for a company in a while but have planned a ton of corporate events in the past. I have also planned for entrepreneurs and coaches who are selling products/services BUT they (companies) want someone who’s been doing it more recent. My advice is to stop turning down seasoned planners because of no “recent” experience. I think my experience and the years of knowledge trump all that other stuff. I can think on my feet, I know how to use strategy to assist in sales, I’m a leader, I communicate well, AND I’m just great at what I do! PERIODT! It’s not rocket science and it just like riding a bike. If I’ve been planning over 25 years I think I know what I’m doing. I wish these companies would stop acting like you need a rocket science degree for some of these positions.

Lesson No. 5 Stay fit. Get exercise, lift weights, walk, swim or run. Staying fit will help your mind and body cope and support you through all this

You have something AMAZING waiting to welcome YOU and to take advantage of all your experience and ability to focus and DELIVER. Remember to take some time for yourself during this "break," because I know you are going to be truly busy soon! Sending you positivity and the ability to see beyond obstacles, just like your well-done message above.!!
