November is Diabetes Awareness Month. As the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S., with 1 in 10 individuals affected by this condition, I’m sure we’re all aware of diabetes and its affect on our loved ones.
Unfortunately, the inequities in our current healthcare system mean not everyone knows how to manage this condition — or even knows that they have it. Like many diseases, minority populations experience a higher burden of diabetes-related complications. This is where awareness — and action — are vital.
I take great pride that we at TriHealth are leading change in disease management. Among our patients with diabetes, 80% of cases are well managed. That’s well above the industry average of 58%. In fact, three TriHealth hospitals were recently made part of the "Get With The Guidelines Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll" by the American Heart Association.
Our proactive and holistic care approach — complete with resources and education — empowers individuals to better understand and manage their health needs. While we’ve made some incredible progress, I’m committed to working with community and healthcare leaders to further reduce the impact of diabetes within our communities.

The important lesson for me here is how important creative thinking is and how important it is to have creative thinkers within any team, be it finance, health, advertising or whatever.

I predicted one of this years Cannes Grand Prix back in 2017!
Well, at least our team of Matias JaramilloRaúl M.Gustavo ZapataMariajose RomeroNicole Ham and myself did when our Lailá Home Hearing Diagnosis was published in the PSFK Future of Health 2017 report.
We thought if people that have never heard us speak in our lives knew we sounded sick if we talked to them even just once, why can’t our smart devices that we literally train to recognize our voice?
So nice seeing something like this actually start to become a reality through the Voice 2 Diabetes work and excited to see what else can be cooked up as smart devices and algorithms become even more capable.
