Ready or not. Healthcare transformation is coming. Recently read Dr Singh’s Future Care, a book that offers an alternative vision for healthcare delivery. Highly recommend. He argues that remote patient monitoring can enable both early intervention and patient empowerment, by using sensors and responsible artificial intelligence to collect and analyze health data. Given the current challenges, we should keep an open mind about the potential of digital health solutions. They can help us improve health outcomes and create access for provider services, which are currently overburdened by long wait lists and patient dissatisfaction. 📚 Thrilled to share my latest academic paper, the second in my thesis! 🚀 Our study, published in the International Journal of Production Research, tackles Social Network Analysis (SNA) might be an effective analytical approach to account for the complexity of Help Chains (HCs) in healthcare. 💡 Check out the key findings: 🔍 SNA unveiled the complexity of HCs and provided guidance for revising the lean assumptions in their design, matching the realities of health services. 📊 This study investigates whether HC assumptions are reasonable in a healthcare setting substantially different from the manufacturing plants where they are commonly applied.  🌐 Using SNA makes the complexity of the HCs visible, considering that the actors’ role is shown in both unilayer and multilayer networks. Our new publication in the The Lancet Global Health explores the 𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘐 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 in the coming decade. The authors say the key to answering that question lie in: 👉 Working together – multi stakeholder collaborations across clinicians, researchers, non-government organisations, governments, funders and the private sector. 👉 Collective action - to ensure the technology reaches the people and communities that need it the most. 👉 Scalability – that technologies are designed from the outset to scale and we move beyond individual pilot projects. 👉 Sustainability – that the technologies are embedded in systems, supporting by the local operating environment, affordable and environmentally friendly. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 is one of the 10 priority areas in the #2030InSight strategy. Through the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) Technology Taskforce we are collaborating with leaders in eye care, technology and sustainable development to set directions for the sector, strengthen the network of stakeholders and create resources for successful implementation of Technology for Access in eye care.
