As #PrideMonth ends, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible ways our associates celebrated throughout the month and showed up to participate in an array of events, partnerships, initiatives, and more! From kicking off the month with our PRIDE Associate Impact Group (AIG) happy hour to attendance at a special PFLAG-hosted event, marching in the Boston Pride Parade, partnering with Point of Pride for our Month-Long Affirming Card Writing Campaign for Trans Youth + Adults, a PFLAG National “Want to be an Ally (or Help One Out?) Building the Path for Your Ally Journey webinar and more! We are lucky to be part of a community that shows up for one another and champions the idea that love is for everyone during Pride and every day of the year. Happy Pride! #Pride #LoveisLove #LGBTQCommunity #JCrew

Awareness is recognizing that some kids play differently. Acceptance is being flexible when someone doesn’t play the same way as you. INCLUSION is inviting them to play regardless. Parks are hard. Maybe more for me, but I see it in her eyes too. This month is the perfect opportunity to have an age appropriate conversation about inclusion with your kids. When kids are aware they understand how to accept and most importantly INCLUDE. #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autisminclusion

🌟 Day 5: Decentering Whiteness: Creating Space for All Voices 🌟 In our ongoing celebration of Pride and Juneteenth, today we focus on the crucial task of decentering whiteness in our movements. By challenging the dominance of white perspectives, we create space for marginalized voices and build more inclusive communities. 🔍 Key Highlights: James Baldwin: Writer and social critic, addressing the complexities of race, sexuality, and class. Andrea Jenkins: First openly transgender Black woman elected to public office in the U.S., advocating for intersectional justice. Miss Major Griffin-Gracy: Transgender activist fighting for the rights of trans women of color and decentering whiteness in the LGBTQ+ movement. Quote of the Day: "The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house." – Audre Lorde Decentering whiteness is not about excluding white-skinned people but about removing the limited lens imposed by white supremacy. This approach enriches our movements, making them more inclusive and effective. 📖 Read more and join the conversation on my Substack newsletter 🎉 Upcoming Workshop! 🎉 Join us for the live workshop "Building Intentional Communities" at the end of this month to delve deeper into community-building strategies. 🔗 Register for the workshop here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eTcK86xa 💡 Support Equity in Education Consider becoming a paid subscriber to support equity in education. From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis: Happy Thursday!! I hope your May is off to a wonderful start. I appreciate the value I receive from knowing that each new season brings new conditions. Recently, I talked to a potential client and emphasized how we were born inclusive and conditioned to be otherwise. I informed them that the best example of inclusion was a playground. Children depict inclusion in its purest form. We can recondition ourselves to remember our inclusivity. Here are some examples below. --- Recall feeling deeply connected to someone. --- Think of a time that you felt deeply connected to yourself. --- Now, think about being able to share that EXACT feeling with someone else. That is the joy of inclusion! Thus, the SWORD Inclusion System is a reclamation process. We reclaim who we are. It is the greatest gift we can give each other! Enjoy your day! #joyofinclusion #inclusionexpansion #strengthbasedinclusion #inclusionontheslopes #SWORDInclusionSystem #PhaseFourReviewWeekly
