We are excited to share our recent involvement in an MIT-R&D (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO)) project, where, together with CORE CHANGEMAKERS, we've dedicated months to developing a high-tech prototype. This innovation is designed to detect and extract valuable metals from residual ash. Notably, our technology can identify various non-ferrous materials and has the potential for in-line use in industrial processes. We strongly believe in the power of collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Recently, Michiel Poppink attended the Internship Fair at Hogeschool Utrecht to connect with the next generation. We're actively building an open flow of knowledge and provide opportunities for research. We extend an invitation to students to join us on both the technological and marketing front. 《Crafting Your Own Optimal Formula – DuPont 2023 Summer Internship Experience》 Last week marked the end of my two-month summer internship at 杜邦 , and I'm grateful that DuPont enriched my final summer as a student. I'd like to express my sincere appreciation to my mentors, George and Doris, for granting me the freedom to explore, harness my creativity, and showcase my abilities. Here, I'd like to share several key takeaways that were paramount during my internship: 1. #TechnicalProficiency: During my time in the manufacturing department, I actively participated in projects related to process improvement. I leveraged databases to extract data and create dashboards, enabling the department to monitor product quantities and defect distributions in real-time. I also utilized quality control lab data to develop manpower demand forecasting model, aiding the lab in efficient staff allocation, reducing waste. Additionally, I contributed to the department's digital transformation initiative, educating team members on tools like #ChatGPT and #PowerBI to enhance efficiency. 2. #SocialNetworking: Beyond departmental projects, I engaged in a project with the DuPont Women's Network (DWN). In collaboration with two other interns (Jennifer Liao and Pei-Hsuan Ming ), we served as strategy consultants, conducting research on employee perceptions and expectations of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). This effort helped formulate future plans and promotion strategies. Through this project, I had the opportunity to interact with over 20 individuals from different departments and professions. This experience deepened my understanding of the company's operations and the responsibilities associated with various roles. 3. #Leadership and #TeamCollaboration: As the team leader for the DWN project, I learned how to lead a group effectively and allocate tasks while fostering open communication and collaboration. While individuals can be efficient, the creativity that emerges from a group is boundless. I'm immensely thankful for the trust placed in me by my team members and mentors(Renay and Chen-Ling Lai ). There are so many people to express gratitude to – thanks to the manufacturing department, the DWN team, and other interns. As this chapter concludes, I'm excited to announce my availability for new opportunities in 2024. Industries a month ago! 🎉 Hey everyone! 👋 I'm thrilled to let you know that I've finished a fantastic 1-month internship at J.P. Industries. During this time, I got hands-on with their quality checks for machining units. And J.P. Industries is all about making machines for plastics, and I got to see how things are done up close! 🔍 Learning Interesting Stuff: My time there was a journey into quality control, where we made sure everything was just right. From checking machines to making sure they work perfectly, I learned a lot about how things are checked and made better. 🛠️🔬 🚀 Tech and Making Things: One thing that got me super excited was how they use machines to do tasks. It's like teamwork between people and robots! This showed me how technology can make things faster and cooler in manufacturing. 🤖🏭 📜 Got Proof! 🧾 Guess what? Congratulations to all MANE interns! I am grateful to have had the opportunity to share and celebrate my accomplishments with a final presentation. Continuing to develop valuable professional communication and public speaking skills, I was able to speak about an overview of my projects, things I've learned as well as my contributions to the company. One of my most fun projects was leading the interactive Waste Sort Education & Data Collection event. Trash can contaminate recyclable material if it’s sorted incorrectly, and recyclables never get a new life if they’re sent to the landfill. I was responsible for coordinating these events, sending communication, as well as facilitating this activity. I gathered volunteers from upper management to get their hand dirty and re-sort breakroom trash. We discussed common recycling mistakes and filmed the event to create an education video. After analyzing the weight data, we found that the trash bins contained about 12% of materials that should’ve been recycled, while recycling bins contained almost 20% of contaminating trash. As a step forward towards MANE’s Zero Waste to Landfill goal, we want to improve these numbers. I created these educational posters to communicate common mistakes. Providing education on how to effectively segregate recyclables from landfill trash will improve environmental awareness at MANE. Let's recycle right! My very first project was finding a sustainable alternative to single-use cutlery in the breakrooms.  I researched options to replace plastic cutlery at each location and surveyed employees for feedback. We are now in progress of launching reusable stainless-steel cutlery at the Development Center, encouraging employees to reuse their own personal utensils, or a MANE-provided pouch set. I had lots of fun creating the design for this pouch with the slogan, “if you can’t reuse, refuse!” Making this drastic change to completely stop ordering plastic cutlery will motivate employees to make sustainable choices and promote MANE’s environmental values. These are just two of the many projects I was able to work on during my internship, and am leaving with many valuable new skills. I am beyond grateful to have had this opportunity to be MANE's Environmental Health and Safety Sustainability Intern this summer.
