Building a business that is both fun and engaging to walk into every day is, and always has been, my mission. For me, it's not just any business; even the most exciting and successful coat hanger factory in the world wouldn't do it for me. I get amped up about companies that are rich with interesting technology and beaming with innovation—the ones that are trying to solve tricky problems. Technology is a true passion of mine. As a self-proclaimed nerd since I was a girl in middle school building my own computers, I have always loved emerging tech. I am not going to tell you exactly when that was, but I played Carmen Sandiego on the original floppy disk, if that's any indication 🙃 Every new technological advancement, I was there for it! What did it do, what did it make better than ever before, and how was I going to use it? Over the years, I have accepted the informal position of free friends and family tech support, like many of my tech industry colleagues, but I don't mind. I really like solving the problem. I really like getting something to work, and work right. Today, I genuinely love solving real world problems with technology (especially robots!). I get excited about building and supporting determined, diverse, impactful and freethinking teams. Solving problems with the collective intelligence, always ready and eager to make it better, faster, stronger, smarter. Doing all this alongside a group of passionate and talented individuals is second to none in my book. I have been fortunate enough to find this a few times in my career, most recently at Rigorous Technology. I am so excited to see what we build! In August 2004 LinkedIn raised Series B, claiming its role as Professional People Search 2.0. Just as Payments 2.0 (PayPal) and Goods Listings 2.0 (eBay) were powered by a network of behaviors – transactions – LinkedIn argued you could assess professionals by looking at a network of relationships with other users, rather than by their claims. Slide 1 on their deck: “Find and contact the people you need.” And, for a long time, they delivered on the promise. But things change, and it is easy to lose track of the number of times that asking a shared connection for an intro gets the response: “I’ve never met that person before”. Echo chambers abound, and they likely all have some merit, LinkedIn feels more like a GTM platform… a place for candidates and companies to reach new audiences, share info & insight, build brand, and, on occasion, find each other. Ironically - or not - much like this post. Of course, if you can’t find and contact the people you need on LinkedIn in an efficient, effective way… then what? Then: welovehumans - where you can push a button to find and contact the person you need.
