I would like to recommend a video that I think all aspiring game designers, narrative designers, and screenwriters should study. For me, this video was a great addition to "Designing Games" by Tynan Sylvester, which I like much more than "The Art of Game Design" by Jesse Schell, though both books are worth studying. The video is only thirty minutes long, and after watching it, you realize the validity of one of the most liked comments: "I learned more about writing here than a year in a creative writing course". It's a six-year-old video of NHTV University professor Mata Haggis speaks at GDC talks about practical tips for creating a compelling story in your game, and how those tips can breathe new life into your overall game design.
