When I hear or read people stating how they "don't trust the media" or use catchphrases such as "fake news", I know they are merely knee-jerking and haven't done their homework. They are also glossing over what corporate America is doing every day to destroy a rich and vibrant history of news and cultural events. In this case, Paramount is crushing what could, and SHOULD, be used to assist in teaching our recent history. Some will argue that MTV was nothing more than a place where music videos were born. It was indeed much more, and their news gathering and various documentary-style presentations revel much about who we were and where we were headed. Now, Paramount is doing nothing to preserve this time and era, and much along the lines of real news and history is no longer available. It's a shame we far too often take things that a a couple of years old and just toss them aside as "old" and don't use them to learn. Corporate America is at the dark heart and rotting soul of what is driving America in the wrong direction. Far too much is done solely for profit instead of what can serve and better our lives. MTV has taken down its longstanding MTVNews.com, erasing over two decades of music journalism and cultural coverage. The closure, part of parent company Paramount Global’s cost-cutting measures, also affected content on CMT’s website. MTV News, which started in 1996, housed a treasure trove of music articles, artist interviews, and cultural insights. The site’s shutdown redirects visitors to MTV’s main page, leaving behind a void of historical music coverage, including iconic hip-hop archives and influential columns like “Mixtape Monday.” Former MTV News staffers expressed dismay on social media, lamenting the loss of their work and cultural history. Patrick Hosken, a former music editor, criticised the decision as shortsighted and devastating to the legacy of music journalism. Crystal Bell, now at Mashable, called the deletion of decades of music history “sickening,” highlighting the loss of early K-pop coverage. Critics noted the absence of MTV News articles on internet archiving platforms like the Wayback Machine, emphasising the irretrievability of this significant cultural record. If Paramount’s plan of having ‘Mean Girls’ released for free on TikTok was to celebrate Mean Girls day or promote the musical, they’re doing it wrong. Having a cult classic be free (1) completely undermines the ability to earn residuals for actors and writers. And (2) creates a loss for the copyright holder because they could have made money on licensing. Accessing the movie on a social media platform, it‘s almost like Paramount is allowing piracy on one of their biggest films. It’s a flawed attempt Paramount’s doing to promote the upcoming musical adaptation and the sheer timing of this is highly volatile w/ SAG-AFTRA negotiations starting yesterday. In my opinion, a better marketing plan would have been to re-release the movie in theaters. Actors and writers get their residuals, Paramount gets the license and distribution costs, people go back out to the theaters, theaters make money off of Mean Girls day exclusives, and the musical adaptation still gets promoted. #meangirls #marketing

The use of music in television     Music plays an influential role in the television process as an element that accompanies the image that television specializes in. It is also an essential complement to the other elements that go into producing the television program, such as decoration, lighting, and graphics. As it works to attract the viewer through the sense of hearing (suggestion) until it connects him to the specific channel or program, and thus it is considered the first auditory introduction to the viewer, as appears evident in the beginning intro music for any television program, and its role does not stop there, but extends beyond it to other important roles. In the content of television programs, it is included in the video advertisement, and in the expression of some scenes as a background and as a sound effect for a scene that tells about a specific event.
