Great interview by John Fort, one of my favorites on the CNBC team! He interviews Matt Garman, CEO of AWS. I was first interested in this interview from the perspective of an investor in Amazon and Nvidia, but there’s so much more to unpack in this interview. They hit many topics such as: innovation, the fly wheel of having data in the cloud coupled with AI, the AI journey beyond chat bots, team building, AWS’ long term strategy, value creation, thinking big from the start, and Matt’s personal career progression to get where he is now. There’s a lot to learn from this one! #NVDA #AWS #AMZN #Innovation #AI #Cloud #CNBC

Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO first interview since stepping into his role. He tackled some tough questions around #ai #strategy at AWS vs OpenAI approach or the diversification for the specialized AI #chipsets. If you do not have time to listen to a 50 min interview, DM me for a brief summary 😉 OK, I had a few folks reach out for the summary. I shared it below here. It actually took me 5 minutes to do the below summary which included me watching the 50 min video! 😁 #NOW if you want to really know how I did this? DM me again! 😎 👉 Garman has been at AWS for 18 years, joining in 2005 after an internship there during business school. He has seen major technology transitions like the rise of cloud computing and now the emergence of generative AI. 👉Garman believes the opportunity with generative AI is massive, as it has the potential to transform industries. AWS is focused on providing a secure, high-performance platform for customers to build generative AI applications. 👉Garman learned a lot about leadership and customer focus during a challenging early incident at AWS where an operational issue took down major customers for days. This taught him the importance of transparency, responsiveness, and building trust with customers. 👉A key part of Garman's strategy is empowering AWS's talented team to innovate rapidly and deliver value for customers. He believes in-person collaboration is critical for driving innovation. 👉Garman's strategic imperative for AWS is to build a rich set of services that enable customers to innovate faster, especially in areas like generative AI, storage, compute, and databases. This is coupled with a focus on sustainability and digital sovereignty. 👉Overall, Garman is excited about the potential of generative AI and believes AWS is well-positioned to help enterprises and startups leverage this transformative technology through its cloud platform and services.

💬 “Your team knows what hurts. Your team also knows how they can make that pain go away. It's your role to go and listen to them and then create that space and capacity in their roadmap, in their tooling, in their way of working to allow them to eliminate that friction.” - Nathen Harvey, Head of Google Cloud's DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) team As a leader, it’s easy to get caught up in complex systems and evaluating metrics, but at the end of the day, you must listen to your team and ensure they have the support they need.
