🔬 Groundbreaking AI Discovery in Antibiotic Research 🔬 In a huge achievement, researchers have utilized artificial intelligence to identify a new class of antibiotics, addressing one of the most pressing global health concerns: antibiotic resistance. 🌍 The Threat: Antibiotic resistance is a formidable global health issue, linked to approximately 1.27 million deaths in 2019 alone, and intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. Alarmingly, no new antibiotic classes have emerged for several decades. 💡 The Innovation: A team led by James Collins at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard has made a significant breakthrough using deep learning AI.
