#Meta researchers just developed a new #text-to-audio AI method called #MAGNET, which is capable of quickly #generatingmusic, sound effects, and noises from text prompts. The details: MAGNET learns by predicting masked sections of songs during training, then unmasks pieces by using surrounding context as clues to fill in gaps. The technique is 7 times quicker than similar systems while matching their sound quality. MAGNET is also tested for turning text into sound effects and environmental noises. Why it matters: By composing sections together non-sequentially, MAGNET points toward more efficient AI methods for music, audio, and perhaps even video creation down the line.

Meta AI has released AudioCraft, a gen AI model that lets you go from text to audio. I don't mean good-old text to speech, I mean something similar to stable diffusion but for audio and music instead of images. The technique employed is called Multi-Band Diffusion and they have a paper about it (link in comments). From the announcement: "The AudioCraft family of models is capable of producing high-quality audio with long-term consistency, and it can be easily interacted with through a natural interface.
