A Very Happy Monday to all! 🌞…..‘March Forth’ day! For me, I am today reflecting on a past 4th March event which causes me to smile broadly, be incredibly positive and feel really happy indeed.👌🏼😁 Significantly, it is also the only day on the calendar that is a command, “March Forth". It's a command to move forward, make progress, stop holding back! So let's not only celebrate the past, but also embrace the powerful message hidden within the date itself. As we embark on the rest of the week, let's march forth with determination, productivity, and the intention to create even more shared memories and success for the future. Each day can present us with new business possibilities, whether it's tackling challenging projects, fostering collaboration, or seeking innovative solutions. If we march forth with purposeful actions, we can achieve remarkable outcomes. Let us also take a moment to acknowledge some historic events that occurred on previous 4th of Marchs. It's truly fascinating how this date has witnessed significant milestones throughout history. Allow me to share a few: •On 4th March 1390, the famous poet Geoffrey Chaucer, author of "The Canterbury Tales," was appointed as the Clerk of the King's Works in England. •Moving ahead to 4th March 1681, King Charles II granted a charter to William Penn, establishing the colony of Pennsylvania in America. This event marked the beginning of the Quaker settlement in the ‘New World’. •Another noteworthy event on 4th March occurred in 1861, the British Parliament took significant steps toward the abolition of the death penalty. The number of civilian capital crimes in England was reduced to just five. It was a pivotal moment in the evolution of legal and human rights principles in the UK. So today, let’s reflect on the past, honour the achievements, and devise new innovative business solutions that create even more shared memories and success for the future. Remember, by marching forth with purposeful actions, we can all achieve remarkable outcomes. #HappyMonday #4thMarch2024 #CelebratingMemories 😁 #MarchForth #Positivity #productivity #innovation

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, I want to acknowledge the incredible contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people to Canada's social, cultural, and economic fabric. We can all learn from their stories of resilience, innovation, and connection to what they’re most passionate about and apply these values in our daily lives. But today isn't just about celebrating the past. It's an opportunity to reflect on our diversity and inclusion practices and how we can actively support underrepresented communities. At HP we're proud to be at the forefront of change particularly in addressing digital equity challenges that Indigenous communities face. We remain committed to making a difference globally through initiatives like our #HPDigitalEquityAccelerator and locally here in Canada, through our ongoing support for organizations like Chapter One Canada (formerly Innovations for Learning) providing much needed technology, training, and mentorship to strengthen capacity and scale digital equity in these communities. What’s important to remember is that offering assistance and solutions are equally important as providing employment opportunities. As a founding member of Coalition of Innovation Leaders Against Racism (CILAR) and the Chair of the Job Opportunities pillar, I encourage you to check out the CILAR Talent Framework Playbook which addresses the need for organizations to adjust their practices to attract candidates from Indigenous and other underrepresented talent pools to ensure they have the same access to growth opportunities and professional development as others. Together, let's commit to action and build a future where everyone can succeed and diversity thrives. Have you been feeling a growing discomfort at some of the changes taking place in our society over the past decade including: - Increasingly extreme positions being taken on things like gender ideology and race issues? - Attempts to suppress free speech and the 'cancellation' of views that don't adhere to a particular narrative? - Moves away from pragmatic policy on Climate Change toward more extreme action and the adoption of policies which border on religion rather than science? Perhaps you've also been concerned as you've watched the role of the traditional family coming under threat as the State seeks to insert itself, more and more, into the care and indoctrination of our children? Maybe you've wondered how such ideas, have gained traction so comprehensively and so fast? You're not alone. Survey after survey tells us that these concerns cross the political divide and that these changes are out of step with the views of most kiwis on both the traditional right and the traditional left - meaning you're in the majority. So where is this stuff coming from and how have the views of extremists become so influential? Some of it comes from international mandates that NZ has signed up to, some is the result of decades of political activism, some comes from 'true believer' politicians, and a lot of it comes from the impressionable and opinionated children who now control our media newsrooms. Certainly there has been opposition to this agenda. Conservative groups have sprung up to address specific concerns (some with which I have been involved) - and the election of the new Government has provided hope that some of the excesses will be rolled back in line with what most of us want. But there is one organisation which towers over all of these in respect of the role that it has played as the gatekeeper of, and advocate for, kiwi values: Family First. Led by the irrepressible Bob McCoskrie, no other organisation has had the impact of Family First and, frankly, no other organisation has understood the potential danger posed to our society by the ideas being promoted. Bob is a friend of mine, but he doesn't know that I'm writing this. Nor does he know how much I admire the extraordinary work that he and his team have done and how much of a debt of gratitude this nation owes to him for representing our views in an environment that is determined to suppress them. Watch the video below or check out www.familyfirst.org.nz. You won't agree with all of their positions - but you'll get a sense of just how effective this organisation is and how important it is that its work continues. Voting for change, last October, was a great step in the right direction - but it wasn't enough. Politicians can be influenced by lobby groups and media pressure - so it's important that Family First remains as a strong counterweight to the agenda of those who are trying to corrupt our children and destroy our society. I urge you to support them and their work....

Today is an important anniversary, and it is an important moment to reflect on the need to address systemic racism in Canada today - so that our future history is different. #unlearn #relearn #diversityequityinclusion #dei #deib #canadianhistory #humanresources #organizationalchange #organizationalgrowth
Today is the anniversary of the Japanese Redress Agreement, an important moment in Canadian history and in the history of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation. It is a moment to remember the Japanese Canadians who suffered as a result of systemic racism during the Second World War, and those who successfully advocated for redress and equality for all. And it is a reminder to persevere in the ongoing work of coming together within and across communities to fight systemic racism in Canada. Towards the end of every year, I try to reflect on my personal and professional achievements, but this year is different. This year I find myself compelled to share a message that goes beyond the usual recounting of personal and professional growth. This year, I want to share a message that resonates with the universal values - peace, love, and humanity. In a world where our differences are often emphasized, it's these three principles that unite us. While our races, ethnicities and religious beliefs may be different, it's these shared values that have the power to transcend borders and bring us closer. As we step into the new year, I encourage you all to embrace courage, speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, and stand firm for justice and equality. In the face of division, let our collective courage and shared humanity be a unifying force. Let us choose compassion, empathy, and understanding, for it is through these qualities we connect with one another. May the coming year be an example of our collective courage and commitment to love and peace. I hope for a world where every voice is heard, every life is valued, and where our shared humanity shines brighter than our perceived differences. Let 2024 be that year for us.
