“What makes someone creative?” Our Partner, Creative Comms & Advocacy, Kyian Keith shares his thoughts below:
In the palette of shared experiences, creativity becomes the shade that colours your 𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚 (read: perspective, reformation, community, and purpose).
In the smallest of ways and in the largest of ways, Creativity is more of a classroom than it is a student, in the same way that it invites participation over mere passive observation. All in, it is a class that celebrates a deeper connection with our true selves, encouraging those who resonate with this connection to choreograph a 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 reflecting the commonality of our shared experiences–whether factual, fictional or even controversial. This 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 then becomes a touchstone to genuine emotion, relatability, and authenticity. See, your ability to welcome the uninhibited exploration of impulses or embrace the journey of a singular or combined emotion is what makes you Creative (not the perceptibility of the craft in itself). Personally, I find it disheartening when someone says, "I don't have a creative bone in my body." The truth is that creativity is not an exclusive trait; it exists as an integral and inherent part of the human experience. Whether it's colouring your family members as villains in childhood, or mentally picturing the features of your favourite person when they are absent, or even visually nestling yourself in a favourite memory with eyes shut on a difficult day - creativity is a dynamic interplay of shared emotions, thoughts, and experiences within and with others. The exact moment you decide to share the depth of expression you are experiencing is precisely when you create a body of work that is so open to interpretation that it resonates uniquely with each person it touches. And your fearlessness in doing so, echoes the rhythm that serves this 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚, creating a collaboration that will perpetually move its audiences. ✍🏽 🎨
