Oftentimes, the Sales Enablement Manager role is seen as a position where someone is simply shipping fancy decks aimlessly and endlessly. 😱 ❌ Strange, but that's what most job listings from big enterprise companies seem to scream. This is how we perceive the Sales Enablement Role: 1️⃣ Abraham Lincoln once said, 'If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend the first six of them sharpening my axe.' A good AE will win 10 deals; an enabled AE will win 100! 📈 2️⃣ We could also equate this role to a program manager or project manager who runs a sales program. 🏋♀️ This team enables the Sales teams with strategy, talk-tracks, collaterals, battle cards, custom decks, and anything under the blue sky to win the deal. 3️⃣ They work cross-functionally with Product, Content, and Sales. 📊 They understand the sales process so well that even before the AE hits a blocker and looks back, the enablement team has already thought it through and crushed the blocker! Is the Sales Enablement Manager a side character to Sales, Content, or Product? Nope! They are the ones holding these teams together, watching out for them… Always! ❣ P.S. Hiring… Sadly I’m not yet (keep your eyes peeled) but after speaking with my network a common theme keeps emerging. SaaS companies are not hiring people who haven’t got a background in tech. From personal experience, I have not hired anyone over the past couple of years that had a direct SaaS background. I actually didn’t have a tech or SDR background myself. Simon Sinek said it best, “don’t hire for skills, hire for attitude. You can always teach skills” And I couldn’t agree more. I know so many people who have come into an SDR, ADR role who didn’t have any experience in SaaS but are absolutely smashing quotas. Having the power of a network isn't just "oh I know them, they'll sign with us...", it's about connecting people to other people where there's a need. I was on a call a few weeks ago and a guy said "we could use some help in admin work, our admin person just left", so I connected him to someone I knew who did admin work. Then someone the next day who was looking for a new role said "I'm looking to do operations, and some product management work". Later in the day someone tells me "we are about to start hiring for someone to do operations, but also some product management". Well..that's a perfect introduction! And I feel like it's good karma/sales karma, but also helping companies/people in general feels fulfilling. Build the network! Never know what can pop up. #sales #networking #revops
