Retired Police Chief | Senior Public Safety Consultant @ T-Mobile | CEO Blue Theory, LLC | Consultant, Researcher and Training Developer helping improve law enforcement agencies around the world.
I have spent nearly 30 years of my life as a law enforcement officer, which means I have dedicated most of life to serving and protecting the people in my community. I also made it my responsibility to research and study how and why officers make decisions and how to enhance their decision-making capabilities and responses. I quickly learned that a very large percentage of what is largely perceived as error is actually caused by the system that surrounds the officers. My research allowed me to reach an incredible point in my career where I was able to positively impact my department, the officers within and my community. During that time, I was contacted by several entities across the nation and asked if I would be willing to share my research and experience with their departments. A project I was more than willing to take on and very much look forward to. At the same time, I received a phone call from a gentleman at T-Mobile asking me if I was interested in taking a managerial position for a Public Safety sales team. Admittedly, my first thought was to decline the offer, as I had absolutely no interest in sales. But after speaking to several people within the organization and discussing my goals with my wife, I realized that taking on this challenge would allow me to make a significant impact for Public Safety across the Nation. So, I retired from my department to take on these new challenges...and here are some of the reasons why I chose to join T-Mobile: Their commitment to developing a superior network was of significant interest to me. After some investigating, I realized how their investment in 5G technology and network expansion could enable faster response times and seamless communication between first responders. This technology also assists with the tools that have been implemented in Public Safety: everything from GPS, body-worn cameras, license plate readers, police radio and technology related to real-time crime centers, and it is ready and capable of taking on the upcoming technological advances in public safety. Moreover, the fact that T-Mobile sought me to create a team of people that I believed had the credibility to help law enforcement and other organizations in Public Safety was a big deal. Public Safety agencies would now have someone who understands what it is they need to accomplish their tasks, someone who can facilitate everything they need to ensure the safety of their officers and firefighters. Joining this team allows me to continue making an impact - a strong one - in Public Safety and to contribute to the continual development and deployment of solutions that undoubtedly make a huge difference for the men and women that risk their lives for our communities. To many, T-Mobile is about providing service to technological devices such as cell phones. To me, T-Mobile is really about service to others… And that is exactly what I want to do and where I need to be. #stillserving #wevegotyoursix

Are you a community #propertymanager , and looking at potential #security companies for your #residential or #commercial property? If so, are you speaking with the company? Are they saying "yes" to everything that you ask of them??? Beware the "yes man" and "yes company." Many security companies, especially the national companies, do not have professional security experts speaking to clients - they have marketing managers or "account representatives." These people are usually competent business folk, but they do not have any experience on the ground, actually doing the work. They generally do not know what security officers can and cannot do, and thus are not able to give you, the client, feedback. Most importantly, they do not tell a client "no." Now, as a client, you don't want to be told "no" when you ask for something, and who would? But in truth, no can save you alot of time and money and hassle. For example, we had a prospective client that wanted us to "arrest" every single vagrant subject that wandered onto the property. Such a policy can cause unneeded uses of force, and tarnish the reputation of a property, and the security company doing the work. With Prominence, we do not have account managers. You will speak directly with the Chief or Regional Deputy Chief when asking questions about a potential contract. All of our command staff personnel are not only in business, they are also each 20-year veterans in law enforcement and public safety. They will listen to your needs, and then rather than simply signing off, will give you their professional recommendations, and look at things from a different angle. Security is a lot more than standing around and watching. It is a unique, and difficult, blend of customer service, deterrence, enforcement, and response. A company that is only show without substance will be cheaper, but when something serious happens, a human cell phone is usually not enough to protect the property, the residents, and your guests. Uplifting Leaders to embrace conscious leadership and tackle the gritty dynamics of work-life integration, DEIB needs, and org dev
This is excellent! When I have met with individuals to review their resume or coach them to explore their career options, I have always reminded them to look at their transferrable skills and to read job descriptions to see what resonates. Organizations don’t always get the “labeling” right. So we have to look beyond the title. For those in the job market, there is much opportunity to help recruiters and interviewers alike see how your work experiences apply to what they are searching for. Help them envision the connection by aligning your experiences with each point in the job description.
Senior Recruiter: Connecting companies and people in Nebraska from Ogallala to Omaha. Former LEO. Mid to Executive Level Corporate Recruiting
Stop looking at a job title and assuming you know what someone has done in their job. We need to look beyond a job title. I was a Police Officer: I didn't just "write tickets" -I worked month long investigations that ended in multiple felony arrests -I did year long community projects -I was a team Gang Liaison -I had high intelligence reports gathered from informants and street contacts -I worked with community resources to solve complex problems -I was a trainer and mentor -I attended specialized trainings for gangs and social media investigations -I was a role player for new recruit trainings -I was the first female night bike shift cop -I was the first female cop to interview for a Gang Investigator position -I worked with the Narcotics Task force to help set up female informants Experience goes deep if you dig a little. Recruiters don't just "find candidates: Accountants don't just "do taxes" Sales doesn't just "sell" Customer Service doesn't just "talk to people" Look beyond the job title, you might find what you are looking for!
