I recently had the opportunity to attend my second Black rodeo, the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo. This rodeo is named after Bill Pickett, a legendary Black cowboy who originated the sport of bulldogging. I was inspired to attend this rodeo after learning about the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls in the United States. Black cowboys have played a significant role in the development of the American West, but their stories are often untold. The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is a great opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Black cowboys and cowgirls. It is also a great place to see some amazing rodeo events, such as bulldogging, barrel racing, and roping. I highly recommend attending a Black rodeo if you have the opportunity. It is a great way to learn about a part of American history that is often overlooked. Here are some additional details about the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls that you may want to include in your post: Black cowboys have been a part of the American West since the early 1800s. They played a vital role in the development of the cattle industry, the railroad, and the military. Black cowboys were often segregated from white cowboys, but they still faced discrimination and racism.Despite the challenges they faced, Black cowboys were some of the most skilled and respected cowboys in the West. I hope this post inspires you to learn more about the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls. It is a fascinating and important part of American history that deserves to be told. #historymatters #blackcowboys

Love to see it! As dope as this is, the only thing that will be doper is when this is the norm and not the exception, but until such time, we're making progress. #NFL #MinoritiesInSports #DiverseRepresentation #WomenInSports

When North Carolina State tipped off in the ACC tournament three weeks ago, the Wolfpack had a 17-14 record and an infinitesimal chance of making the NCAA tournament. But they ripped off five wins in five days to steal an automatic berth to March Madness. Then they went on a wild run even by the standards of an event known for insanity. Now they’re easily the most improbable Final Four team of the past decade. What were the odds of the Wolfpack getting this far? To find out, you can take the win probabilities for each of the past four games from the college-basketball statistical website kenpom.com, then multiply those percentages to quantify the rough likelihood of a Final Four run. N.C. State was a 1-in-88 long shot. But even that number doesn’t accurately convey how unexpected this Final Four romp has been. That’s because the Wolfpack really had to survive and advance nine times. The chance of that happening wasn’t 1 in 88. It was more like 1 in 23,512. To put that .004% probability in context, the National Weather Service says you’re more likely to get struck by lightning during your lifetime. How can you not love underdogs & March Madness! #statistics #marchmadness #underdogs https://lnkd.in/eYYfjg3E
This Final Four Team Isn’t a Long Shot. It’s a 23,512-to-1 Miracle.

Last week at a luncheon, a few old mates (Denis Pagan, Dr Harry Unglik & Wayne Carey) of the North Melbourne FC 1996 Premiership Team gathered to celebrate Corey McKernan’s 50th birthday. The occasion turned into a journey through time, revisiting football victories, pivotal moments, fun times, resilience and the development of life principles forged over the past 25 years. Conversations shifted to nostalgic reflections as memories flowed, victories were recounted and the challenging times that have been life shaping. The parallels between past sporting principles and present-day realities became evident. The key messages that resonated were the importance of principles like accountability, discipline, hard work, belonging and the need for a vision. All proving to be pivotal for their success at the time. The notion of vision emerged as a significant aspect of this success and a driving force in sport, business and life. The celebration transformed into a living testament to the enduring nature of these principles, living philosophies which shaped their journeys. Corey's 50th became a tribute to the wisdom that binds them, a celebration of timeless lessons learned on the field and translating into life. #highperformance #teamsuccess #teamculture

It appears my comment was deleted twice from the below post - so thought I'd share it here. Venue owners should listen as well as amplify; that's how we improve, take stock and evolve. The comment: The gig was great - no doubt. Foo's rocked! 🤘🎆 But there was a severe lack of operational efficiency at the gig venue. Examples: The bars were the worst I've experienced - no hyperbole. This is 2024, but multiple 40+ people queues across the stadium, concourses and on the pitch/standing area with dithering staff and stock issues. Then, the grim sight of single-use plastic cups covering the stadium floor (and I'm sure, the stadia seats) - fans kicking through rivers of clear plastic cups to get to exit points. Again, this is 2024 and there are many other sustainable options. Then the misery and danger of trying to get back to Stratford station from the stadium. If you missed the end of the gig, you might have stood a chance. If you stayed to the end like we did, it was a 2-hour kettling-session with little security and no policing. Appalling and at many times dangerous. I appreciate the hubris Graham Gilmore, but your team would benefit from an overhaul in operational efficiency. In almost 25 years of producing global events this was one of the worst operations I've witnessed as a fan. I'd be v happy to talk about solutions or strategic tactics over a cuppa if you do plan for London Stadium to hit London 2012 heights again, and be heralded for operational excellence as a viable international venue on the global circuit. Because again, Foo Fighters will have loved the atmosphere and the ticket sales - but every fan will feel let down by the venue. Sean Egan Candice Egan Amy Moqbel
The Worlds Stage rocked again . London Stadium we showed the world why we are simply the best at what we do. Foo Fighters have to be the best rock band in the world . Incredible 2 nights with 3 hour set both nights … Stratford rocked last week .

So simple but so powerful…🔴⚪️
“Footballers have brought us so much joy and this is such a simple way to give something back to them – just offering them a place to come together. I just thought what a great idea it would be to roll it out to other clubs.” We’re pleased to give our support to The Thursday Club. 🤝 Watch to find out more. https://lnkd.in/ecaSCUqp
