For the fourth consecutive year, we partnered with PUMA Group to present Children’s of Alabama with a combination of much-needed monetary donations, apparel, footwear and accessories to support Care Closet, Sugar Plum Shop and the CHIPS Center. Additionally, the hospital was gifted with 1,000 Pop-its toys, for hospital staff to use to help entertain distressed patients and their siblings, who may have accompanied the family on an emergency room visit.

In a bid to help parents and carers in Norwich save on the expense of school uniform and prevent clothing that is in wearable condition going to waste, Castle Quarter have launched a preloved school uniform collection point. and are asking for donations. During the summer, they will host a pop-up event for a school uniform swap shop, where parents and carers can pick up good quality items of clothing, for free, ready for the new school term to begin. Castle Quarter is asking people to donate blazers, cardigans, jumpers PE kits, polo shirts, shorts, shoes, skirts and trousers. Items can be plain or branded, and in any colour. They must be washed and in good, wearable condition, with all name tags removed if possible. #recycle #reuse #donate #uniform

10 YEARS AGO!!! Who remembers this? The ICE BUCKET challenge. A fad that created a lot of noise, huge commitment to ALS #charities and a lot of cold bodies. Did you do it? I was thinking about fad or short terms trends. Big impact. Short term. They don’t always align with your goals, but you join anyway. We set up Wolf Eyewear to be different to this. To have #corevalues that last longer. To add value. To bring brilliance. COLOUR. FUN. This is always why we wanted WHITE OPTICS LIMITED to be part of the #wolfpack. They have been very close to these values for 50 years! Understanding customers on a closer level, what they want to achieve and how a supplier can support them. This is why we will be here for the long term, not just a fad. #wolfpack #growthmindset #familybusiness #eyewear #customerjourney #focussed #charity #eyewearfashion #eyecare #independentopticians

A lot of organisations receive clothes and footwear as donation. They contact Hasiru Dala for collection. Here's a few points to remember: 1. Only donate if you know there are people who wear the same size as yours. 2. After donation ask them to contact organisations like Hasiru Dala to dispose of the clothes. 3. Don't donate in the rainy season

Ch-ch-changes! I help individuals, small businesses and non profits get social on their platforms. Mentoring, creating content & interacting for you. Host #SurreyChat on Twitter. Made a mug of tea for Larry Ellison.
Today is #Internationalcharityday and it’s also #CharityTuesday… I work a couple a days a week at a charity shop and love it! I also work with a few non profit clients - helping them with their social media platforms by getting their message ‘out there’ so people can understand and support their cause. If you need help with your socials and are a non-profit with a limited budget, I can help you. A word on donations to charity shops… Clothing: Donate good quality, lightly used items that can be sold. If your item as a rip, a button missing, the zip doesn’t work or there’s a stain on it, then it cannot be sold. Charity shops don’t have washing machines/Laudrey areas or the capacity to mend items. HOWEVER! These items can be bundled together and sold as rags. Many charity shops will have a regular collection. Label the bag rags and that will help. Shoes, bags, belts, scarves, accessories: Yes please to lightly used CLEAN items… again some items that are not up to a sellable condition may be added to the rags. Please label them. Books: Yes please - but if they have annotations or even your name in them we may not be able to sell them. We want books but they need to be in a reasonable condition. HOWEVER! Again, some charity shops can accept books that are not in great condition and sell them on for a few pence. Small Electricals: Some shops can take these items - some can’t - all items need to be PAT tested if they are to be sold in a shop. DVDs/CDs/Games Yes - many shops still sell these - and records. Costume Jewellery Yes please! Kitchenalia/Bric’a’Brac Items that have chips or marks cannot really be sold - but if it’s a good brand some shops may be able to sell ‘as seen’ Pictures/Frames/Toys etc Clean please! These are just a few guidelines - please speak to your favourite shop or charity for clarity. So many charity shops do not have storage space. If your charity shop turns down your donation please come back with it when you can. Volunteers are needed to help sort, price and get items out the the shop floor. August is notorious for a dip in retail and people being unable to help. Finally THANK YOU! Donations really do make a difference and we’re so grateful for the items that are donated. If you pay UK tax please consider gift aid as that means that the charity can claim 25p in the £1 for anything that belonged to you and is sold from the government. Sold recently - the fish slippers! Trinket Tray - one of my favourite finds in a local charity shop…

Chief Executive of St Petrock's - Exeter's local homelessness charity, standing with and for people experiencing homelessness
Frustratingly stupid (yes, not just ill- informed, but stupid) article in The Telegraph . The purpose of charity shops is not primarily to provide bargains for punters, but to generate income for charities' charity work. (Unless, of course, the purpose of the shop is to provide low-cost items for their beneficiaries). Getting best value for donated items is not a "rip off", but (a) showing respect for the donor, and (b) fulfilling the requirement of the Charity Commission to get best value for the assets of the charity. Oh, and it's basic economics too, which you'd have thought the Telegraph would love! Pesky charities, how dare they behave in a businesslike way and generate profit for those who need their services!
The Telegraph has had a pop at charity shops for over-pricing donated goods. On balance, whilst I have sometimes had to look twice at price tags, I find them great places to bag a bargain. Often reasonable, and in line with what local customers can afford. The article also touches upon the threat to charity shops from commercial operators entering the market, and how more people are choosing to sell pre-loved goods online for personal gain, rather than donate them. This is an issue I've often warned about, and one solution is for causes to look at creating win-win partnerships with these operators. https://lnkd.in/ekmRCaKD
How charity shops turned from a bargain-hunter’s paradise to right rip-off

Has anyone done this before? Wallpaper Wednesday, but focused on community impact. → Pay local designers to create Wallpapers for your weekly content series, tagging them in the posts. → Partner with a company that does poster printing, like FedEx, Staples, Walgreens, etc. → Offer the chance to purchase and print that week’s wallpaper designs as posters at your partner’s stores locally. → Donate proceeds from Wallpaper Wednesday purchases to an organization that supports art in the community. → Plus up! Showcase the designs at something like a Bulls Fest via an art exhibit or a Casino Night as part of an auction. This would give artists a large platform via distribution on team channels, drive revenue for the partner at their physical locations, and support art in the community in the future via the donations. These are the kinds of things that pop into my head on a random Wednesday 🤣 #sportsbiz #sportsmarketing #sponsorship
