Building elite Tech teams | Founder of Ventellect | Host of Ventellect's Building our world Podcast 🎙
I have worked the German market for years and years now, but as we roll into another summer I still get jealous of the long vacations people take. The out of office emails where people won't be around for 3 weeks. Hearing from candidates and clients about their epic trips exploring round Europe. The vacation culture always been a key difference compared to the UK and even more so the US. Something it took me a while to get used to when working in the continental European market - but productivity studies, especially in Germany, always tend to score high. #TechRecruitment #SoftwareEngineering #Ventellect

Founder - Maritime Talent Experts | Helping Shipping, Marine, Commodities, Offshore Renewables & Energy Companies Find and Secure the Best Talent | Jobs on AngleRecruitment.com | Global Executive Search and Recruitment
We launched Angle Recruitment, Maritime Talent Experts and moved into our first office in September 2023. Fast forward 10 months, we have just made our third office move, much sooner than expected. We're settled into a private office at the The Executive Centre, a fantastic co-working space with a stylishly designed shared executive lounge, reception, and pantry. The name is spot on, and it truly has an executive feel. Our clients and candidates appreciate our private meeting room facilities, and the team at Angle really enjoy the working environment, so do I! I recently came across a post by Steven Bartlett from The Diary Of A CEO that really resonated with me: “If you have a team of five, each person represents 20% of your company culture. Ensuring that your initial hires truly embody your values is key because that's the culture you will scale.” I couldn’t agree more. While it's great to see our company growth, I'm cautious about scaling too quickly. Ensuring our team is the best in class, gets all the help and development they need, supports one another and truly enjoy their jobs is far more important than rapid expansion. I'm proud of the balance we've struck in our first year, and the results have been outstanding. It's a testament to the incredible work the team is doing. Check out this 2-minute snapshot video of my talk with Andy Willett about co-working spaces and my decision-making process. If you’re setting up a business or planning to set up in Singapore, you might find it useful. The full interview is 13 minutes which you can find on makeit:work media's website. #BusinessGrowth #TeamCulture #SingaporeBusiness

Managing Partner of BCG’s London office; Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) - Retail & Consumer
One of the things I’m most proud of looking across our team at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in London is the creativity that comes from our diverse people. Our office has over 75 different nationalities representing the global hub that London is today. It’s a privilege to work somewhere with colleagues from such different backgrounds and it has only reinforced my belief that diverse teams deliver the best outcomes for our clients. Beyond our own four walls, this global London is the one I see at our clients and on the street. Therefore, I wasn’t surprised that London continues to be ranked as the most desirable city for global talent in our latest survey with The Network and The Stepstone Group: https://lnkd.in/eCixyGNY The findings are a reminder that there is a huge opportunity for UK businesses to attract the best talent available, based on the pulling power of our capital city. Not only does it create a stronger employee base, but it allows companies to better connect with the needs of diverse and global clients and customers too. There is something about London – its great diversity of people, its neighbourhoods and its mix of rich history alongside sectors and people pushing boundaries – that brings me huge personal energy. It’s one of the reasons I moved back from New York 15 years ago and have yet to get tired of it. https://lnkd.in/eSmJ7J-W #BCGintheUK #DecodingGlobalTalent #London

The majority of graduates think that their employer wants them to return to the office despite the negative impact that might have on their productivity and wellbeing, reveals a new survey by Prospects at Jisc. The survey by Prospects.ac.uk, which runs the UK’s largest graduate careers website, is based on the responses of nearly 3,000 graduates. It found that the majority preferred hybrid working (60%), compared to full time in the workplace (16%) or remotely (16%).

✨ Living the dream! ✨ I’m currently in London, living my dream of working flexibly from anywhere in the world so that I can spend more time with family and friends. I didn’t know any organisation that allowed this – at least to the extent I wanted it – so I started my own company. And as you know, the CEO is a brilliant, forward-thinking visionary who sees no issues with this. Is it possible to be on the opposite side of the world and still work effectively? Well so far, I’ve completed design work for a project, I’ve collaborated on a tender response, I’ve been doing client meetings – both virtual ones with Australia-based clients as well as in-person meetings in London – and my coaching clients have their appointments just like they would if I was in Australia. What about the downsides? There are days when I work till past midnight due to time difference and get up early to conduct meetings. There is a bit more flexibility required from clients so that they don’t need to meet the 3am version of Sanna. I’m very grateful for that as I’m sure they are too. And for me it’s just a bit more juggling of schedules, tasks, time zones and people. But everything gets done. I hope more organisations will allow this in the future. I appreciate that a major time difference can be an inconvenience but when it’s only a short-term thing, I feel that the advantages outweigh the inconvenience. People will be happier, more engaged, and work gets done across two time zones! I also find I’m always more creative when I’m overseas in a different environment so let’s add extra creativity into the benefits list too.
