Goodwill of Greater Washington’s Post

#DidYouKnow that Goodwill of Greater Washington is working to keep donated items out of landfills by using a glass pulverizer to recycle discarded glass into sand?! We’ll take damaged glass items that cannot be sold and put them through our new machine named Penny. Penny is projected to keep more than 500,000 pounds of glass out of local landfills each year. That recycled material can then be reused in construction, landscaping, or other projects that require sand or gravel. The purchase of the pulverizer was made possible through a generous gift from the Truist Charitable Fund. #Goodwill #DCGoodwill #Sustainability #Local #Nonprofit #Donate #Donations #Recycled #RecycledGlass #GlassPulverizer #TruistFoundation

What an excellent idea. Everyone in thrift needs one of those bad boys! Jennefer Klennert, MBA You guys might want to look into this

Genuinely curious about the process after it’s turned into sand. Does it make it easier to melt and reuse?
