Read between the lines. News headline: "SHEIN launches €200 Million Circularity Fund in the UK and the EU and commits to investing €50 million in broader ESG efforts." Bigger picture: The largest fast-fashion retailer, with an inherently wasteful business model that ships garments by airfreight, will invest 15% of its *annual* profit over five years to showcase ESG efforts that have no real impact on its business. This is not even funny 🤬 The answer to sustainability issues of fast fashion is not venture investment. It's less fast fashion. #fastfashion #greenwashing #circularity

Despite the politics, ESG is getting real. Real scrutiny is coming from regulators (not always in your country of origin), activist groups and customers. Scrutiny is leading to litigation and liability is reaching farther into the supply chain and subsidiaries. Company Boards can no longer pass responsibility for the accuracy or aggeration of sustainability claims in sustainability reports and disclosures. Ecolumix is using real data to provide insights relative to a facility's, subsidiary's, or supplier's actual performance and risk. We think our profiles are a must have for corporate boards and executive leadership.
Comment: With greenwashing lawsuits proliferating, boards need to step up scrutiny of ESG claims
