Today, It Gets Better stands as a prominent global non-profit organization, touching the lives of millions of young people annually. Happy Pride Month! We are allies. 🌈 Here are 5 ways to celebrate Pride Month: 1. Educate yourself Learn all about the history of the LGBTQIA+ community, its history, and its challenges.    2. Donate Give back to the LGBTQIA+ community by donating to an affiliated nonprofit in your area.   3. Increase LGBTQ+ inclusivity in the workplace If your workplace does not have a culture that promotes LGBTQIA+ inclusivity, speak to your manager about ways the company can be more inclusive to this community.    4. Watch a documentary on the Stonewall Riots Learn how it all began by watching an informative documentary on the Stonewall Riots and the events that preceded and followed them, like “Stonewall Forever” or “Stonewall Uprising”.   5. Some thoughts I have about #PrideMonth this year and how organizations can support the LGBTQ+ members of key audiences.

Being an LGBTQ+ ally is about helping to create an inclusive environment where everyone can be themselves. The most recent data from the Stonewall ‘LGBT in Britain Work Report’, found that 35% of LGBTQ+ staff have hidden that they are LGBTQ+ at work, for fear of discrimination. Concerns about being treated differently keep many from being out at work, but allyship increases comfort in being out. The LGBTQ Commission has opened up applications for this year's Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Grants through the Denver Arts & Culture Fund! The goal of these grants is to support non-profit organizations that, through arts and culture, elevate the communities represented by each of the Human Rights and Community Partnerships (HRCP) Commissions, and that exemplify the tenets of equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice. Each Commission, including the LGBTQ Commission, can award 1-2 grants of $5,000 or $10,000, using the following requirements: ✅ Projects must take place within the City and County of Denver ✅ Projects must have an arts, culture or creative component ✅ Projects with a focus on social justice efforts will receive high consideration ✅Organization must be a nonprofit (501c3 or has a fiscal sponsor) ✅Funds must be spent within a year of receipt Apply here by June 23rd: https://lnkd.in/eC8Ut5Ak Know an org who would be a good fit?
