Do moments matter? I think they do, and believe that many would agree with me 💯 As I kicked off 2023, I was very intentional about creating experiences and moments in both my personal and professional lives. Last night I got to share a wonderful evening with my oldest daughter, and we attended a concert at the amazing Greek Theatre in Berkeley. A few highlights include… 1) Zachary’s Pizza (most that know me, understand) 2) She turned to me during the middle of the show and said “BEST. CONCERT. EVER.” 3) Driving home and singing 80’s songs ALL the way home together It’s easy to imagine why last night was so meaningful to me as a #girldad, and how incredibly fulfilling the entire experience was for the both of us. In addition… There are so many ways you can create moments in business as well. If you’re not, you are missing opportunities to make your people feel connected to both the organization and their peers. Congratulations to The Hair Pin Last week, I facilitated the process of creating organisational values with the team at "The Hair Pin," (a highly successful business based in Brisbane.) Together, we embarked on a session to identify which values resonated most deeply with both the team and the organisation as a whole. Through open dialogue and collaborative discussions, we explored the true meaning of each selected value within the context of the workplace. By involving everyone in this exploration, we not only defined these values but also discussed their practical application in day-to-day operations. This process enabled us to brainstorm specific actions and behaviours that would embody these values in client interactions, team dynamics, and decision-making processes. A key outcome of this collaborative effort was that team members felt a sense of ownership over the values because they actively contributed to their creation. This ownership fostered a deeper commitment to embracing these values in their work and interactions. The pivotal element here was ensuring that every team member not only felt heard but also actively participated in shaping the standards for how they collaborate and work successfully as a united team.
