In today's business environment, it's worth considering how to use career leveraging for three key reasons:

Should a company being named a Great Place To Work US have any value to you in your job search? At Freese and Nichols, we're proud to be named a Great Place To Work US for the 7th year in a row, but what does that mean? There are a lot of lists out there from different web sites and publications, both national and local, with names such as "best companies", "top companies", "best places to work", etc. Some lists are published by sites based on an analysis of activity on their own site, therefore favoring companies with more data (i.e., mega-companies).  Creating a much smaller list of "midsize" companies seems to confirm this bias. Some lists are published by sites which require users to register with their site and provide a review which is publicly viewable. Some local publications publish a list based on a partnership with a mom-and-pop research company. Well, we partner with Great Place To Work US because we believe the brand and the methodology provide credibility. Certification is a two-step process that includes surveying our employees and completing a short questionnaire about our workforce.  Employee feedback and independent analysis determine the scores, which means certification indicates companies which genuinely offer a great company culture. Why do we care if we are a Great Place To Work US?  Well, we want great talent to choose us over our competitors.  We figure that a trusted survey which allows you to see what our employees have to say is a good way to attract talent.
