Today, I did something that I'm convinced will have a lasting impact on my kids and me. I took the day off work to treat us to a delightful adventure, and it was worth every moment. Our destination? A farm where we had the chance to get up close and personal with some of the cutest and most curious creatures - goats! "I started working at VLR this June of 2023." 🔹 What inspired you to work here? "I enjoy working for nonprofits. Generally, in this field specifically, employees want to help and support their clients. Also, I know a previous employee who spoke positively of the work culture and flexibility at VLR." 🔹 Favorite memory at VLR? "My favorite memory was when I took a low vision client to Lake Owasso for a mobility lesson. He had never been to a lake before!" 🔹 Favorite sports teams or movie or podcast or band? "I’m from Chicago and enjoy watching hockey. Chicago Blackhawks!" 🔹 Favorite thing to do outside of work? "I love trying new restaurants and being outdoors. I love to go swimming, hiking, and paddle boarding." 🔹 If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? "I have so many places on my list. If I had to pick just one, I would like to visit Iceland and see the northern lights." 🔹 What's the best piece of advice you have ever received? "A quote by Maya Angelou has always been something that stood out to me. 'People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.'" 🔹 And pets? "Not yet! I would like to adopt a dog sooner than later." 🔹 If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why? "Maya Angelou. She was definitely ahead of her time, and I would love to pick her brain."
