We at Generation Citizen know that to truly elevate youth voice and build a more inclusive democracy, we need to ensure more young people have access to hands-on civic education – civic education that equips them with the civic skills to build consensus, identify root causes, and effectively advocate for themselves and their communities. At a time when teachers, students, and our public education system are facing challenges from multiple directions, it is up to us to stand up and stand behind the causes that support them as they push forward. This #GivingTuesday, help us equip our nation’s young people with the skills necessary to carry our democracy forward. Support our end-of-year campaign, Democracy’s Rising Generation, by clicking this link (https://lnkd.in/eurJX7yj) to make a gift today. Let’s work together to triple GC’s impact by 2025. #democracy #democracysrisinggeneration #education #civics #youthempowerment #youthleadership #fundraising #giveback

Last May I wrote about the need to move more resources, earlier, with fewer strings attached to organizations on the front lines of building community power for a multiracial democracy. ⏰ After every election cycle, nonpartisan civic groups say the same thing: The money came too late. ⏳ Today we and 30 other funders are launching All by April, a call to action to philanthropy for early, robust funding for fair, free, and representative elections in 2024. Early funding empowers nonpartisan efforts to reduce voting barriers, cover the information needs of communities, combat misinformation, and protect people’s rights. If you are a funder you can sign on here and get money out the door: AllByApril.org #AllByApril

Check out this video with the 2023 MyImpact Challenge Grand Prize Winner, Caroline Gao, as she describes her organization, The World in Us, and what she learned and values about BRI's student civic engagement contest. #MyImpactChallenge #civics #BRI
We had the opportunity to catch up with Caroline Gao, the Grand Prize winner of BRI's 2023 MyImpact Challenge civic engagement contest. Listen to Caroline describe her nonprofit, The World in Us, a youth-to-youth cultural education organization, and the ways in which MyImpact Challenge helped her to connect concepts like citizenship skills and civic virtues to her work. “These are foundational skills and ways of thinking that I don’t think I would have internalized nearly as much as I have now if not for the MyImpact Challenge,” Gao said. https://lnkd.in/ebyqpN3X. What does your program do? As question every charity has to answer and one that we at Stardale are particularly proud to. For over 25 years we have empowered the lives of Indigenous girls, strengthened their families, and inspired communities to engage in the core values of reconciliation. We offer programs and services to Indigenous young women and girls in overcoming systemic barriers. Our program includes four components that encompass the the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of life. As building blocks to a journey of awakening, healing, self-respect and empowerment, the Stardale Model encourages development of skills and enlightenment by healing with compassion for every girl involved in our program. Our program is and always has been focused on our girls first. Whether they are getting involved in a film project, expressing their feelings through art, or learning practical life-skills, everything they do is approached from the four components of the Stardale Model. In a typical month, these are the kinds of needs met by Annie’s Fund, a program that helps women in temporary but immediate crisis situations: Assistance towards the first month of rent for a woman who left a domestic violence situation and is raising her two grandchildren. Assistance towards an overdue National Grid bill and a dryer for a woman with a physical disability who is unable to travel to the laundromat. Assistance towards a dining table & chairs for a single mother of three who recently moved to a safer location that is closer to her work, and couldn’t afford furniture after all the moving expenses. Assistance toward baby supplies and a few household goods for a married mother of three new to this country with no income. Did you know that each situation is carefully vetted to make sure that the needs are serious and specific? When you give to The Women’s Fund you are making a difference in the lives of women in specific situations that help them get through difficult times. We work with partner agencies to identify and address opportunities to help for circumstances where women may not otherwise receive support. To learn more about Annie’s Fund, visit our website at

Did you know that approximately 25% of nonprofit organizations in the U.S. do not have diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies? Having DEI-focused policies can enrich a nonprofit's volunteer program by providing fresh perspectives, talent pools, and overall community engagement. 🚀 Learn how to create a DEI-focused experience for volunteers here: https://hubs.li/Q02fByhQ0

November 20th marks Universal Children's Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the rights and well-being of children worldwide. It's a day to acknowledge the bright futures and boundless potential held within every child. We're proud to support this important day. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, dream, and grow. Through our programs, we're empowering young hearts and nurturing their dreams with access to healthcare, education, and a safe community. Getting involved in Universal Children's Day can be a powerful way to make a positive impact. Here are a few ways you can participate: 1. Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn about the rights and challenges children face globally. Knowledge is the first step toward making a difference. 2. Volunteer: Look for local organizations or initiatives working with children and offer your time and skills. Your efforts can directly benefit young lives in your community. 3. Advocate: Use your voice to raise awareness about children's rights and issues. Engage in conversations, share information on social media, and support campaigns that advocate for children. 4. Mentor: Consider becoming a mentor or a role model for young people in your community. Your guidance and support can make a significant impact on their lives. 5. Support Local Schools: Reach out to local schools and see if they have any needs you can help fulfill, whether it's donating supplies, organizing educational events, or providing mentorship. Remember, even small actions can collectively create a big impact. By getting involved, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children on Universal Children's Day and beyond. Join us in commemorating Universal Children's Day by supporting our mission to provide a better tomorrow for the children in Sierra Leone. Your contribution ensures that their dreams have the chance to flourish. #UniversalChildrensDay #ChildhoodDreams #FreedomTreeImpact
