Governments often provide little support to those who serve their country. It is important for politicians to remember those who dedicate their lives to difficult, especially those who are adversely affected. Families of those serving provide support to the public servants and deserve consideration as well.
Quality of life, mental health, physical health, and sustainable income should all be examined.
Military veterans have been noticeably mentioned as needing this care, but we have other individuals and their families who should also be supported.
Teachers are often placed into situations where mental stress and exhaustion may likely occur because of large class sizes, behavioral issues, learning deficiencies, and a large amount of bureaucratic documentation.
Library staff often support demanding and needy patrons, have an expanding role as the result of community needs (often not related to their original training), receive insufficient training in technology and other fields, have too large a proportion of their work time in face-to-face interactions with the public, and have work schedules that fail to consider quality of life.
Those individuals in the public finance sector often are in the position of too little public funds available for the desired amount of service needs. Insufficient monetary awards and little oversight may lead to embezzlement or simply giving in those with the most power and not providing the best services to the community as a whole.
Feel free to add to the conversation of how we need to support other public servants.
Kudos to Aruna Miller, Gov. Wes Moore, and the state of Maryland for focusing on our public servants.

When families thrive, our troops and veterans thrive.
In Maryland's Year for Military Families we're addressing the unique challenges military families face — starting with the Families Serve Act, which will create stronger pathways to employment for military families.
Proud to have completed the Career Transition Strategies Course instructed by Noël McCall and sponsored by Patriots Path, Inc.
The course was incredibly informational and the content provided exceeded my expectations. It was a humbling experience for me to realize that as much as I thought I knew with my experience as a hiring manager and with the advice I would give coaching/mentoring members of my teams to land their next roles and advance careers, just how much more there was to learn.
Noel is an excellent instructor with a wealth of knowledge. She also demonstrates a passion for helping members of the military community (active duty, veterans, and military spouses) like me during our transitions no matter when we served and what capacity we served in.
If you are a veteran, active duty service member, or military spouse located (or willing to travel) in the Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) area and you are looking for assistance in the following areas:

Communication capabilities won’t matter if HSA doesn’t begin to convince the industry to do work under the GHC program. There are bigger issues at hand here right now than the communication capabilities. Let’s start with ensuring we have the capacity and quality service ready first. Besides, chat, text, email and phone are not new capabilities to celebrate.
This month, we salute and honor the unsung heroes of our nation - military families. They serve alongside their loved ones, providing unwavering support and often making great sacrifices in the process.
During a Military Housing Roundtable hosted by the Military Family Advisory Network (MFAN) Military Family Advisory Network, our own William Hughes and Jessica Clemons discussed HomeSafe’s dedication to military families! HomeSafe will provide 24/7 customer support through text, chat, email, or phone and serves as a customer advocate to the DoD and move suppliers, ensuring proactive communication and responsive support through every stage of the move process! #MilitaryFamilyMonth
Today, we celebrate the courage and loyalty of our K9 Veterans!
Did you know that March 13 commemorates the birth of the United States K9 Corps in 1942, formed for the first military dogs who served during World War II? Their loyalty and bravery will always be remembered.

"Child care accessibility, identified as a problem back in the Army’s 1990 analysis and raised as a key recommendation in the new Quality of Life Panel report, is also getting a closer look." Go ahead and take a look at that MOAA article (yes I ctrl+f for child care before reading any articles)
One of the biggest hurdles in the type of advocacy that we do through Operation Child Care Project is the additional burden of explaining why there is a problem. Organizations that help homeless veterans find housing don't have to explain why veteran homelessness is an issue; it is understood. Organizations that set up food boxes/pantries/support don't have to explain why hungry soldiers are an issue; it is understood. VSO organizations focused on increasing healthcare access to disabled veterans don't have to explain why they need healthcare; it is understood.
Child care touches everything. We see it affect enlisted and officer families and their ability to serve their country and their families. We see it as a primary barrier to transitioning veterans who find themselves without assistance programs to close the gap with their new salary. The list of situations is endless. It has been highlighted since the 1990s, and we are still educating on its impact.
One thing I am grateful for is that the conversations I am having today are much different than the ones I was having seven years ago. When I bring up childcare policy considerations, I am no longer redirected to "ask the local FRG how they can help." I see more organizations like Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and Military Family Advisory Network digging in on what needs to change to fit our modern families.
The conversations with families will never get easier, but the barriers to advocating for them are getting smaller.

As we approach Veterans Day, I want to recognize the sacrifices our veterans have made to protect our freedom while they served our country. But for many U.S. veterans, leaving military service can bring big changes, both personally and financially.
Getting a handle early on your money situation, and the benefits available, can help ease the transition. Here are somethings to consider as you make the transition to civilian life.
