What’s the problem with education in Africa? Frankly there isn’t enough to go around. Ask any child what they want to be when they grow up and the answers are the same the world over. Lawyer, doctor, teacher…. By 2050, 1 in 2 Africans will be under 25 years of age. The continent will be home to 1 billion children and adolescents aged 0-18. With the right opportunities, this young and fast-growing population can be a powerful source of growth and progress in Africa, and the world. (UNICEF) 1 BILLION hopes and dreams that can be fulfilled with the gift of education. In reality as fast as we build school classrooms more are needed. Schools fill at an unprecedented rate. Mission Direct are proud to continue giving the gift of education in Africa, Asia and beyond and to give our donors the opportunity to see first-hand what a difference this incredible gift makes. Will you help fulfil the hopes and dreams of future generations? #educationforall #buildingbetterfutures #volunteer #gift

Most of us may take getting an education for granted, but that's not the case for everyone around the world. Today, on #InternationalDayofEducation, we reflect on helping those who find getting an education a challenge due to remoteness, poverty or war: ✅ Tackling education inequalities in South Africa’s townships – Our Ambassadors for Good programme mentored 70 students, resulting in 94% of those young people going on to university. ✅ The Crescer Programme around our Minas-Rio operations in Brazil, focusing on youth empowerment and employability skills targeting 4,000 young people aged 16-35. ✅ Youth development initiative in Moquegua, Peru, focusing on improving employability, having achieved a 75% success rate. ✅ Children fleeing the war in Ukraine who have had their education severely disrupted are benefitting from a $1 million grant to The Salvation Army, who are helping refugees across Europe with basic facilities. 💭 Why is education so important in Africa? Quality education is the fourth UN Sustainable Development Goal and is a sustainable means to reduce poverty and bring lasting change. By attending school, children are taught the skills they need to progress and find employment. 🎓 Education has a long-term impact on all of our lives. Would you be the person you are today without going to school? #Education #School #SDGs #InternationalDevelopment

I am delighted to be part of this conversation. Although the current state of education in Nigeria is quite disheartening, particularly how much insecurity has taken us back in the fight for education, leaving the nation with a rapidly increasing number of out-of-school children and girls. Nonetheless, as we commemorate The International Day of Education, permit me to share with you how you can be a part of this advocacy as the statistics call for urgent action. What can you do? 1. Amplify the fight for education in Nigeria by reposting and sharing to raise awareness. 2. Volunteer with aligned organizations to address this crucial issue. 3. Educate yourself on the matter so your voice creates impact. 4. Donate, no amount is too small - every contribution matters. 5. Make an impact in your community by supporting a child's education. Your actions can make a lasting difference. Let's work together for a brighter, more peaceful future through education. #InternationalDayofEducation #EducationForPeace #2024goals #educationforall
School security should be a priority to ensure students can learn in a safe and conducive environment. In commemoration of the International Day of Education, we call on the government to pay attention to school security. The goal should be to provide adequate resources and well-trained personnel for the safety and security of students, educators, and school staff. This will reduce the number of out-of-school children and make it easier for them to access education. Let's work together to ensure all students have equal access to quality education and learn for lasting peace. 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟮𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹? UNICEF estimates that 20 million children in Nigeria do not attend school, making it the country with the largest percentage of out-of-school children worldwide. Extreme poverty, a lack of public schools, and security concerns all lead to children not attending school. The government cannot accomplish this on its own. Join us on our #school project intervention in Nigeria as we work to create a sustainable environment for children in the public schools. Video credit: FRANCE 24 English

At the Sterling One Foundation, our Education & Youth Development Program is committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education. Our goal is to provide lifelong learning opportunities across diverse sectors. We believe that offering a child the gift of education is an investment in a brighter tomorrow.
