Today is #coloradogivesday - would you take a moment to donate to my nonprofit UNDESTRUCTABLE ? * As many as 60% of folks experiencing IPV will lose their jobs due to reasons linked to their abuse. * Folks experiencing IPV lose a combine total of 8 million paid days of work annually. * $104,000 is the average cost to survivors over the course of the abuse inflicted upon them. * 99% of survivors experience economic abuse compounded with other forms of abuse * 50% of survivors face homelessness, and those who find themselves homeless are likely to continue experiencing varying forms of abuse. ���🏽 * 45.1% of Black Women will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 55.5% of Indigenous Women will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 37.1% of Latina Women will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 43.8% of lesbians will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 61.1% of bisexual women will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 26% of gay men will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 37.3% of bisexual men will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime * 50% of trans individuals will experience DV/IPV in their lifetime ✊🏽 WE ALL KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN IMPACTED BY ABUSE. ✊🏽 We are here because there is a need for what we do. Many large philanthropies have walked away from their justice portfolios. It is part of what Stacey Abrams and Julián Castro describe in their article, "It’s Open Season on Civil Rights. Several of our DLLG team members were in attendance for The If Project’s 15th Anniversary Fundraiser Brunch last Sunday, where DLLG was also a sponsor. The morning was filled with hope, inspiration, and empowerment. The IF Project is a Seattle-based nonprofit that provides holistic services for currently-and formerly-incarcerated women to help reduce incarceration and recidivism. What does your program do? As question every charity has to answer and one that we at Stardale are particularly proud to. For over 25 years we have empowered the lives of Indigenous girls, strengthened their families, and inspired communities to engage in the core values of reconciliation. We offer programs and services to Indigenous young women and girls in overcoming systemic barriers. Our program includes four components that encompass the the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of life. As building blocks to a journey of awakening, healing, self-respect and empowerment, the Stardale Model encourages development of skills and enlightenment by healing with compassion for every girl involved in our program. Our program is and always has been focused on our girls first. Whether they are getting involved in a film project, expressing their feelings through art, or learning practical life-skills, everything they do is approached from the four components of the Stardale Model.
