Just spent a very insightful afternoon in Ramboll's "Many Faces of a Sustainable City" seminar. All presentation were top notch and raised several important, alarming but also optimistic messages. The key takeaways included: 🦀 #Biodiversity is perhaps even more critical issue than climate change and needs to be addressed more in urban planning 🦏 Humans are only one of the species in the global network and we can't continue to steal land and #resources from our fellow neighbors anymore 👨👨👧👧 #SocialSustainability is sometimes undervalued and is one of the key ingredients of a bright future 💧 #Sea levels are very likely to rise by at least 2 meters, all coastal cities should have a mitigation plan and be ready to minimize the risks 👸 We should benchmark and learn a thing or two from medieval cities when we are planning #transithubs and #mobility solutions 👫 As the challenges becomes more complex, #collaboration, cross-discipline thinking and #coordination is needed. This must be taken into account in #decisionmaking, #planning, #governance, #education and #funding, 🕗 ...but all hope is not gone, #brightminds, clever experts, smart decision makers and all of us can still make a difference. We just need brave decisions, use all possible measures, and time to act is now! #Letsclosethegap together!
